PSULions
The Panthers are still shopping Kris Jenkins and are looking for a 2nd rounder to make a deal. St. Louis seems to be mentioned most, along with Denver per the local paper here. Most likely will take place on Friday or draft day or not at all. PaulOttCarruth
Jets to trade Vilma for Portis? Posted: Friday April 27, 2007 05:40AM ET The conversation began like an Abbott and Costello routine, with Redskins running back Clinton Portis turning to Jets linebacker Jonathan Vilma during a promotional appearance in Miami and asking, "Did you hear that you're going to Washington?" To which Vilma replied, "For what?" Upon being informed that the word on the Internet had him being traded to the Redskins, Vilma said, "Will I like Washington?" "Yeah," replied Portis, his former teammate at the University of Miami. "Will I like New York?"

policyvote
Okay, Lions rumors: * Atlanta has offered (or will offer) 1.8, 2.8, 3.8, and 4.8 for 1.2. where they would take Calvin Johnson. Rumored that owner Arthur Blank has informed GM Rich McKay to get this deal done at any cost. * Arizona could offer 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 for 1.2, where they would take Joe Thomas. * Denver has offered Houston their second- and third-round picks for 1.10, which they would then trade to Detroit with their 2008 first and some other value for 1.2, where they would take Calvin Johnson. * Tampa has offered 1.4 + Simeon Rice for the 1.2, where they would take Calvin Johnson. * Tampa has offered 1.4, 2.4, 3.4 for the 1.2, where they would take Calvin Johnson. Finally, it's been reported that the Lions will not make any trades until they are on the clock and they know what Oakland has done. It would be a no-brainer if they knew Cleveland would not take Brady "Medicine Woman" Quinn.

Said another way, none of their potential trading partners will pull the trigger until they know that CJ is available.

Outshined
Minnesota: Speilman reported from yesterdays news conference, the Vikings had talked with one team about moving up and several teams about moving down. Of course no names were said and it is pretty secretive over at Winter Park... Edited April 27, 2007 by Outshined
policyvote
This is a great deal for Detroit. It would be a no-brainer if they knew Cleveland would not take Brady "Medicine Woman" Quinn. Actually, the Lions are not interested in Quinn; they like the kid from Stanford and think he'll be there in the second. The problem with 1.4 is that it's still a little high for Gaines Adams and way too high for Patrick Willis. I think they'd like to get even more picks if they can, and take Willis first. I think the Atlanta trade is by far the most likely one to happen. Peace policy

Peace policy Actually, if DET wants to maximize the value, they do the deal with TB and drop down to #4, and the flip/flop picks with ARI who want Joe Thomas, pickup (say) an additional second or third round pick in the process. Then, once they're on the clock at #5, they could trade down to MIA (or anyone else) that may have a hard-on for Brady Quinn (see MIA) or Adrian Peterson (see MIN, BUF or GB)...picking up another pick or two this year and/or possibly an early pick next year. To put it mildly, DET is in a position to revolutionize the way their team looks if they can package these picks well. If done well, they could play "catch the falling player" all draft long ... or parlay some picks they may acquire in this years' draft into picks in next years draft if they're worried about being able to afford a bunch of new guys ... Yeah, in my head I've played out many "And they can trade down with Cleveland, and then with Tampa, and then with Arizona, and then with Atlanta . . . they'd have ten picks in the first three rounds!!! MWAH-HAH-HAH-HAH-HAAAAAA!!!" scenarios. The likelieness seems a little remote. Peace policy Edited April 27, 2007 by policyvote

Willis should still be around at #10, and the Lions would have gotten the player they wanted plus a boatload of picks. policyvote
According to PFT, the current package on the table between Detroit and Tampa is the 1.2 for the 1.4, both of Tampa's second-round picks, and CB Brian Kelly. Peace policy
