Adrian Peterson may miss TC because of shoulder?

AP has been projected anywhere from 3 to 8 in most mocks. Does this cause him to slide? Do the Bills give up picks to move up to #6 to get him? Yes they took a change on Willis but it was their pick in the late first round so they could takea gamble. Might be harder to move up and pay the price for a "fragile Freddy RB"

If he is there at 7 I'm not sure I want the Vikings drafting him..... ah what the heck with our kick :D offense he won't even get tackled!

Peterson Reinjured Shoulder During Fiesta Bowl

Injury Might Cause Him to Slide in First Round

By Steve Helmer

Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson has drawn comparisons to Hall of Fame rusher Jim Brown and had been considered to be a lock to be drafted in the top 10 on Saturday, possibly even the top 5.

However, recent information about a new injury, reported by various news sources, could change that.

According to the reports, Peterson re-injured his collarbone during the New Years Day Fiesta Bowl against Boise State. The injury, according to anonymous sources from a couple of NFL teams, may require surgery that will cause him to miss training camp with the team that drafts him. It'll also raise questions about his durability and whether he's able to be a featured back in the NFL.

Peterson originally broke his collarbone Oct. 14, 2006 during a game against Iowa. The injury caused him to miss the rest of the regular season and many thought he tried to come back too soon by attempting to play in the Fiesta Bowl.

The 6'2" 218 pound running back is considered the best of a weak class of rushers entering the April 28-29 draft. Many believe the Cleveland Browns will make him the third overall player taken.

While he has drawn comparisons to Brown, teams have also criticized his upright running style, which makes him vulnerable to hits and creates concern about future injuries. This recent injury will likely have teams re-evaluating where they have him on their draft boards.

Depending on the extent of the injury, it could cause him to slide to the middle or even bottom of the first round if teams are concerned he won't be ready to play for them immediately.

However, it is unlikely he will slip out of the first round even with the injury since teams have taken shots on injured running backs in the past if they felt the risk didn't outweigh the reward. The latest example of this would have been in 2003 when the Buffalo Bills drafted Miami running back Willis McGahee 23rd overall. Like Peterson, McGahee had been projected to be a top 10 pick and, also like Peterson, suffered an injury during the 2003 Fiesta Bowl. The only difference was McGahee's injury caused him to miss his entire rookie season with the Bills.

The risk paid off for the Bills, who saw McGahee take over as their starting running back in 2004 and rushing for 3.365 yards and 24 touchdowns before they traded him to the Baltimore Ravens this off season.

My guess is that it could cause him to slide somewhat. He already had questions regarding his durability, so this can't help.

On the other hand, the shoulder injury could have been caused by his coming back too quickly following the broken collar bone.

I don't know...I'm no doc. Or a GM for that matter. :D
