MOSS DEAL DONE?

There's talk in league circles that the Raiders have a deal in place to trade Randy Moss.

However, we don't know yet where he's headed. Or what the Raiders will get in return.

The most likely destination is Green Bay, since Moss has been linked to the Packers for much of the offseason. We've heard on multiple occasions that quarterback Brett Favre is certain that Moss will join the team, and ESPN's Chris Mortensen has mentioned repeatedly that Favre is pushing for the trade.

We heard earlier today that the Raiders were shopping Moss for a second-round pick, and we heard on Thursday that the Packers had offered a fourth-round pick.

Our guess? Moss to Green Bay for a third-rounder.

Moss playing with Favre rejuvenates him in a hugh way. If anyone can get in his head & make him the top WR he can be, it's Favre. Favre won't go for all the whiny, pouting crap - he'll kick Moss in the ass & get his head out right away - and Moss will love the deep balls Favre will get to him.

You'll see some early grousing from Moss, I'd imagine, and then he'll take off. I'm no Moss pyschophant, I don't like the guy, but there's no denying all that latent talent waiting there to be tapped.

I actually agree with this. Plus, if Moss turns into his old super-talented self, who knows? Favre could decide to sick around another year after this one.

Wisconsin would need all their National Guard and Reserve soldiers back to quell the fan riots if this is true.

If the Cowboys had to take Terrell Owens, the least the Packers can do is take Moss.

+1

I've never liked the guy, Silver helmet or not. But there's no denying that if he WANTS to play, he is effective. I think with Favre's "toss it up" playing style, Moss could have a great year or two there.

Not sure how much stock I put in this since players seem to always "get in the best shape of their life" when they might be on the free agent market, but it sounds good.

Raiders WR Moss in best shape of life, wants to play for a title

Randy Moss hears the critics. Today, his agent tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, that the Oakland WR is in the best shape of his life.

"In Florida, where, Randy works out, he ran a 4.26, 4.28, and a 4.31 during one of his workouts last week", said Tim DiPiero, Moss' agent earlier today. "He's in the best shape of his life."

DiPiero told me Moss' playing weight is about 205 pounds and is completely healthy. Gone are the ankle, rib, groin and hamstring injuries that have nagged Moss over the the past few years. But there are other questions about Moss that need to be answered.

NFL executives across the league have questioned Moss' work ethic over the years. "Randy is determined to prove all of them wrong," DiPiero told me. "He wants to play for a title, and win a Super Bowl."

But here's the real question: Where will Moss accomplish this? Today, trade rumors run rampant in light of Saturday's upcoming NFL draft. Today, a well-connected NFL website, profootballtalk.com, reports the Raiders are offering up Moss for a 2nd-round draft pick. The web site also speculates the Packers are willing to give up a 4th round pick to land Moss. I asked DiPiero what he's heard. Moss' agent said he hasn't heard anything from the Raiders.

DiPiero did say that Moss "has great respect for Brett Favre-who wouldn't as a receiver." When pressed if Favre and Moss had talked, DiPiero said most NFL players have personal relationships outside their respective organization and this is no different. When asked if Moss has physically been to the Green Bay area since news of the rampant trade rumors started 3 months ago, DiPiero said Moss hasn't been there this year.

For interested teams, there is another small matter to consider. Moss' $9,750,00 contract for 2007 is cost prohibitive at this point in his career. Moss is seriously obsessed with his off-season training and has a renewed desire for the game, so it's not unreasonable to think that he would be open to restructuring his current deal. That said, Moss considers Lambeau Field as his favorite place to play, as his agent told me today. Even when he was with Minnesota. So far, the Packers are the only team to publicly emerge as a suitor. Stay tuned.

Sounds like "Agent Speak" to me. Yea, Randy Moss ran a 4.26-4.31 :D

Yeah, Moss has always allowed people to kick him in the ass and get his head out. That stopped about after the second TD bomb in his career, and he stopped letting Cris Carter tell him what to do.

Injury free? Sub 4.3 speed? That's a load of crap, from an agent/aging player who is looking for some "straight cash, homey."

Bring him on to Green Bay. The only sad thing about him playing the Vikings twice a year would be that he would never run over the middle, allowing Laron Landry to lay his arse out...

Remember his last rejuvenation, going to the Raiders? He's older, slower, and his body will take even less pounding than before.

Moss is done, IMO. Go ahead any buy in if you like...I remember the excitement back in the day. I'll be surprised if the Pack does it, but it won't bother me much if they do. He might put forth the effort in Viking games, but that would be about it. Farve and Moss is the answer at this point to getting back to a Super Bowl? Good luck with that.

If the Vikings don't address the offensive side in the 1st, they deserve every single loss they will get...

Says the Randy Moss expert, who knows that Moss will only get up for two games a year.

Its Favre we're talking about here, not Culpepper or Carter.

The guy is still a physical freak. Im on board with trading him for a 4, but nothing else.

At the very least, he could be a redzone monster.

I disagree...they need some solid receivers (ala Greg Jennings)...what they DON'T need to do is reach in with the 7th pick like they did with Williamson...

Hmmm.

Larry Johnson. :D

Randy Moss. :D

AND Brett Favre. That would make for some excitement at Lambeau I would think. Then GB could concentrate on defense in the draft or go with Greg Olsen as yet another Favre target.

Also disagree with the offensive pick by the Vikes in the first, unless it would be Peterson, who would be worth a shot. Landry would be a great addition, an impact defender to add (Doss is a one year contract) who can learn from Sharper, which would solidify the defense, making one side of the ball pretty darn good. Then, with 2 of the next 4 picks, select from the good depth at wide receiver in this draft, or possibly a QB or RB.

They are close to having a very good defense, which is big in their division. If Gaines should happen to fall, that would be a nice pick for them too...helping a non-existent pass rush. Just my opinion. Landry is an all pro for years to come.

Good call, totally agree with this.
