Sounds like a fun evening. One minor bone of contention, however, Meritage specifically refers to reds made from the 5 Bordeaux varietals

Seattle LawDawg
One minor bone of contention, however, Meritage specifically refers to reds made from the 5 Bordeaux varietals Deja Vu....I just had to throw that correction to a buddy of mine over the weekend. I was a little unsure though because the requirements that I've seen are something like "must be made from a blend of two or more of: CS, M, CF, Malbec, & PV. and no single varietal can make up more than 75% (?)". So, in the case of the Clayhouse Adobe Red, CS and Malbec are blended (along with other stuff). I believe that the only ingredients in a Meritage can be those 5 varietals but I've never seen that specifically stated. I'm sure its out there somewhere. I found this: * Red Meritage must be made from a blend of two or more of the following varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, St. MSPAMre, Gros Verdot, and Carmenere. No single variety may make up more than 90 percent of the blend. * White Meritage must be made from a blend of two or more of the following varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Sauvignon Vert. No single variety may make up more than 90 percent of the blend. Not familiar with St MSPAMre or Gros Verdot and mostly just see Carmenere in wines from Chile and Argentina. Reininger makes a Camenere. I've got a few bottles.
