Wondering what the consensus is on these guys

Willis- Wowed everyone but landed in a 3-4 scheme. Will he end up like D. Edwards or J. Vilma?

Timmons- Also landed in a 3-4 (for now). Appears to slated at OLB. The next Merriman/ Ware?

Beason- Looks to start at WLB until Morgan gets another concussion then could move to MLB

Posluzney- Still up in the air as to OLB or ILB but BUF LBs have been very productive in fantasy.

Opinions?

Everyone seems to be making the assumption that Poz will play MLB. Crowell has played there before and done so pretty damn well. Poz might just be the guy moving to the outside.

And I would find it unfathomable that SF wouldn't wouldn't put a LB as talented as Willis - and drafted as high as Willis - in a position where he'd be limited on D. I have heard rumors that he might be battling with Derek Smith for his spot rather than playing alongside him. That would make sense to me, especially given that Smith has 10 years in the league already & the drop in his tackle numbers last season (yes, I know he was hurt, but he was hurt for 4 games & his tackles were down from his 4 year average by 40%). Injuries are starting to affect Smith's playing time, having missed 5 games and being ineffective in another in the past 3 years after only missing 2 games in the previous 7 years.

We'll see, Poz could be the real deal, but I see Willis as being in the right spot right now and having a higher pro upside than Poz.

This is why I voted for Beason. I'm not sold that Morgan will be able to come back and keep himself in there the entire season. Beason will start at WLB and if anything happens to Morgan will move to the middle and put up very nice FF numbers. I have also heard that Crowell will man the middle and Poz will be on the outside. In the end, I think the difference may be negligible, but I would bank on Beason over Poz right now.

As far as Willis goes, I just don't know enough about the situation there to make a call. Derek Smith has been steady but not outstanding there. Willis could make a huge difference there, but if the DL can't keep people off of him, exactly how effective can he be?

Derek Smith put up 4 years where he averaged 113 tackles before last season. If he can do that - and I'm a big Smith fan, BTW - I find it hard to believe that 113 tackles isn't the baseline for anything Willis will do.

I'm sure Willis will make a lot of tackles. But I thought it was a combination of injuries and the DL not being able to keep the blockers from getting to the second level that added to Smith not being as effective. Seems if he's having to take on blocks by the larger offensive lineman, it wears on him. I've had Smith on my dynasty team for 4 years now, I like the guy as well. Just curious how much of Willis is hype and how much is true. If I remember correctly, prior to the combine, wasn't Willis projected to be the second or 3rd best linebacker of the bunch? I truly may be wrong and I apologize if I am. Just for some reason remember the pre-combine rankings not having him as high as he ended up.

Willis has been the #1 LB in this draft for as long as I remember draft talk getting serious. The guy didn't make his bones at the combine, he slam dunked a superb college career there.

I'm having a hard time figuring out why Timmons was the 2nd LB drafted and 15th overall but there is no love for him as an IDP.

:D

Where's he going to play and what's his role? Not nearly as defined as the other players listed. :D

He more than likely plays OLB, which in a 3-4 defense doesnt rack up the stats, really. But then again, there has also been talk of him moving insde, just a question of which defense (3-4, 4-3, hybrid) and which inside spot. Like gts sad, there are too many questions for most to spend a high pick on him.

Buffalo can stud 2 LBs in their scheme. Last yr before Crowell got hurt, it was he and Flethcer. This yr, I like Poz ability to score more than Willis just because Willis is likely to play in a 3-4, which outside of Farrior and Donnie, this hasnt been as productive than Poz playing either weakside or Middle for Buffalo.

Timmons is already listed as the starting ROLB. Woodley is competing for the starting spot as the LOLB. PIT has had all 4 starting LBs in the top 25 of FF LBs in the past - I could see a return to those times with this crew.

When he ran sub 4.4 at his pro day he hit a home run. A 4.37 ILB and hitting like this?

And running like this?

I voted for Willis

And I'm surprised that he is 2nd also

:D Poz seems to be in the better situation but who is better should be interesting. If Beason becomes ROY that other Bastage commissioner will look pretty good.

Like Joey Porter - Hit or miss every week. If you owned Porter, you will know what I mean. More hype than substance, and the scheme dictates a players opportunities. Timmons playing outside LB in a 3-4 isnt an idea situation at all. Now if he went to a team that plays straight cover 2, and he is the weak side backer, he becomes very valuable. Time will tell on which D Pitt ends up with, not just this yr but future years.

I voted Willis, as I just took him at 1.11 in a 12 team IDP Dynasty draft. :D Poz was taken 1.12.

Just took Beason 2.5. Hoping at least one (if not 2) from Wills/Beason become top 10 LBs.

I'm looking the same, with C.June and E. Sims as bye fillers. :D
