The no mans land of the draft at pick 16.The Pack need a big time back and do not have one.One more crappy season and we get our franchise tailback in Peterson.Instead we win a bunch of meaningless games and he goes to the Vikes. The quality of the MIN passing game may actually be the worst in the league (discounting ATL , of course, who relentlessly plays a RB at QB despite his failures as a passer). Peterson's got a very, very tough year coming up. It actually makes him a questionable 1.01 pick in a dynasty draft this year. Vikings fans know better than any other fans how to cope with the frustration of having an injury-prone starting running back. They've lived with Robert Smith and Michael Bennett, who took up permanent residences on the injury report, over the last decade and a half. Peterson brings a similar outlook. You may be correct about the state of the Minnesota passing game, but there is definitely hope on the horizon IMO. The Vikings have pretty clearly dedicated themselves to building a strong O-line. They didn't really gel their first year last year, but I'm sure they will continue to get better (they've got the individual talent to be an elite line in the NFL). Then there's Tarvaris Jackson, who could be an up and coming stud or a complete bust... we just don't know yet. We do know that he is young, fast, althletic, and has a cannon for an arm. I'm not sure how smart he is yet to be honest, but the kid shows some promise. And if the line can give him enough time to get through his check-downs, then that's half of the problem solved right there. The other half of the problem though is the weak corps of receivers. That will take another year or two to fix for sure. But it's not unfixable. A trade here, a Free Agent there, another solid draft pick, and suddenly the Vikings have Receivers again. And that's just enough time to get Adrian Peterson up to speed in the pros (of course he'll probably need A LOT less time to become pro ready). Herschel is more of a straight line wind. He doesn't change much in direction. Luckily, the Vikes didn't use a gazillion picks on a back this time so all is good. The problem with the Vikes QB situation is that it is a wildcard right now. I think that the coaches and team are very pleased with what they have with Jackson. They didn't feel like they needed to draft or pick up a veteran QB in FA except to add to the depth chart. Obviously it all hinges on how well he does and I think that he can do well, even if it's in a Childress offense. The OL is in decent shape. I'm not going down the road to defend the receivers although Williamson will be in his 3rd season. He didn't do too bad in the early part of last season before he self destructed and was mentally beat down. Jackson can get the ball downfield and it was quite clear that he was the best equipped for doing that last year.
