Packer mini-camp

Minicamp is the time of year when the fresh faces take center stage. Understandably, everybody wants to focus on the newcomers. In the process, however, some intriguing players tend to get overlooked. So we asked a former scout to give us three young veterans to keep an eye on this weekend while the rest of Packer Nation focuses on Frank Walker, Justin Harrell, James Jones, Aaron Rouse, etc. He chose halfback Arliss Beach, wide receiver Chris Francies and tight end Tory Humphrey.

Rest of story

Maybe I'm getting brainwashed, but the more I hear about James Jones, the more I like the pick.

Me too. He's stronger but a little slower than Jennings. They both remind me a lot of Driver.

Most comparisons I've heard for him were H Ward, Boldin, and a Packer great who I don't want to even mention (but his name started with an "S", ended with an "e" and had a "terling Sharp" in the middle).

I read that too and while a sterling description I thought it was little over the top. It would be nice if true.

Oh, I'm not insane enough to expect that sort of production - but while he was a bit overdrafted, consensus seemed to be that he's a high-character guy who stands a good chance of contributing as a possession-type WR. Most scouts seemed to think he was a LOCK to be drafted no later than the 5th.

And we took him in what round? :D

Hopefully he can turn into the possession guy opposite Jennings whenever Driver slows down...
