Thunder Chicken
best was in a former monestary turned biergarten in kreutzberg (not far from frankfurt)..... ..... meaningless referrence: a place that mcnasty had visited as well. Was this brewery near the town of Fulda?? I went to a monestary that was on the top of a hill near the Fulda gap that had the best beer I have ever tasted.... Mmmm, memories The Kloster Kruezberg is about 40 miles due N of Wurzburg, only about 15 miles from Fulda kinda SE. It's still a working monastery too. We had our "welcome home from Kosovo" family picnic there in 00. There is an empty growler from there, sitting across the room from me now. I am Partial to Widmer for Hefe of the domestic variety. If you can find it, Franzischkaner or Wienstephaner import good Hefe and most good beer shops/good bars should have it.

Seattle LawDawg
Rumor has it that Red Hook and Widmer are merging. Official announcement expected before the end of the year if it hasn't already happened. Not surprising with AB owning part of both of them.
