Cider Squirt

Heres a simple baste thats short on prep but long on flavor. This recipe is from a friend that works at a Memphis barbecue house.

 

2 cups apple cider

3/4 cup cider vinegar

1/3 cup bourbon

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice

1/2 cup salt

 

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool to room temp and put in a spray bottle and use right away or refrigerate. Use within 2 days of making. It should make 4 cups and be enough for 4 lbs of meat. Use can brush it on but I like to spray it right on the meat. Its great for roasting or smoking ribs and chicken.Apply every 20 mins.

this might also be nice on a pork butt.
