45? Wow.

The Bucs have had a hell of a time at QB the last couple years. They've like six in camp now and will hopefully take the best three (Cpep as No 2?)

This ranking is just as surprising as McGahee at 26.

Bucs fans?

I am ready to reach past Peterson (committee), Marshawn (committee) DeAngelo (committee) Ahman (dusty) Barber (committee) Deuce (committee), Norwood (committee) and Jamal (turd) to pick him up.

Am I crazy?

You are not crazy. Caddy probably has more upside than the majority of that list in my opinion. DMD brings up some good points in his analysis, but I'm willing to give him another look this season at his discounted price.

+1

If he is there in the late 3rd or 4th, Id take him. Theres just too many more reliable options before him. Reliability has a LOT to do with rankings.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Just like before last season when the word was that Caddy would bounce back big time.

Sometimes a RB is just a mediocre player. Williams can rip off some huge games, but he flat out disappears in others and he gets hurt way too much. What has happened in the offseason that would change Williams' M.O. one bit for the coming season?

Im guessing the answer to this is an OL that has one more year exp., Luke Petigout, and a QB that might actually be able to throw.

Also, just so you know, I agree he is pretty mediocre, but still worth a gamble if the price is right. However, outside his 1st 3 games, what are his stats like? IIRC, he has been very below mediocre with the exception of a few games his rookie year.

Got it. TB throwing the ball more will get Williams greater rushing numbers and reduce his penchant for pulling his mangina muscle three times this season.

And :D @ adding Petitgout making a difference. NY had a suspect O line, and they didn't see fit to even keep him on the roster - but he'll go to TB & be a stud? Good luck with that one...

McGahee is being drafted early in the second round, and he has been mediocre at best during the same time span. I don't see how you could take McGahee in the 2nd instead of waiting for a guy like Caddy in the 4th. I don't see McGahee (or any of the other players mentioned in the first post) as a better gamble than Caddy.

I won't argue that point. I think McGahee is way over-rated. He's going to a team that has had a very difficult time running the football lately despite the support of a superb D that should allow them to pound away on other teams, and he wasn't spectacular to begin with in BUF. Henry got kicked to the curb there, and he put up better numbers than the sexier sleeker McGahee model - how'd that work out?

The bad rushing teams seem to just be swapping RBs and thinking that the change will suddenly make them good rushing teams.

Two years ago that Oline got Chester Taylor a big payday. Jamal's problems were Jamal's. I would hope that McGahee is better than Chester.

and, regarding Caddy: Garcia+Gruden=Gannon+Gruden. Gutzy, mobile and dinks and dunks down the field.

Caddy = Garner?

There are a few players ahead of him in the top 120 that I would bump him up above, but really not too many. Actually it's more like there are some players that I would move down below him (like Marion Barber). Altogether I think he's just about in the right spot though for my taste.

That's about my opinion. It isn't like Williams has no value at all. But if anyone is relying on him to provide even regular #2 RB numbers, if history speaks at all, they are going to be sorely disappointed. If you can get a good #1 RB & load up your WR corps, Williams might be a reasonable option as a #2 FF RB.

Easy killer. Petigout is an UPGRADE, not a stud like you assumed I said. As for the passing game, you outta know that a respectable passing opens up rushing lanes. Is Garcia gonna dominate? No, especially not in Tampa, but he is head and shoulders above Gradkowski.

Garcia is going to move the chains - that's all he needs to do. A 60 yard bomb isn't going to do Caddy any good. A new set of downs with 50 yards to go - well that's an entirely different animal.

Whatever the case - I suspect he is going to go earlier than I want to take him.

We'll see. I like Garcia, but he couldn't get it done in CLE. Still, Gruden has a good track record with aging QBs who can cut teams to pieces even if they can't throw a decent deep ball.

And while a good passing game does open rushing lanes, it also reduces rushing opportunities.

Williams just reminds me a lot of a guy like Charlie Garner. He'll tease you with a few enormous games, and then he'll settle in to his so-so self while getting tweaked regularly.

I agree with this view. Luke is an upgrade and Garcia will help this team immensely. In PPR leagues Caddy will also be seeing more touches in the passing game as well. I have Caddy in the Top 25, at #24 with close to 1,300 total yds and about 6-7 tds.

This is absolutely where I see value with Caddy. I've seen a couple threads around discussing the real value this year of going RB,WR,WR,RB. I can see that working out very well in a few scenarios and I see Caddy as valuable as that 2nd RB.

Very true. Having seen most of every game in which Caddy has played the past two seasons, I can tell you for fact that he was hit behind the line far more often last year than the previous. 2005 he played the first half of the season with a veteran Brian Griese(servicable at the very least) and the remainder with newcomer Simms(no book on him at this point). Last year Simms was horrible and Gradkowski was his equal. Teams did not believe the Bucs could throw on them and they were right.
