Atlanta Falcons running back Warrick Dunn underwent surgery for a herniated disc last week and is expected to miss six weeks, which would encompass all of training camp, ESPN's Ed Werder reported Wednesday.

It's the second surgery the 32-year-old has had since the Falcons completed a 7-9 season. In January, he had arthroscopic surgery for a damaged shoulder that bothered him much of the season. At the time, the team said that Dunn would need several months of rehabilitation before he's able to resume football workouts but was expected to make a full recovery.

The 10-year veteran started every game for the third year in a row. Dunn had a career-high 286 carries and rushed for 1,140 yards.

I thought it was just time to move him down because of the Vick thing. :D

Atlanta has that feel of a team where you don't want any of there offensive players this year.

I'd say the same for the Falcons defense... They're going to be on the field quite a bit this year...

While it's still very early in TC and the preseason, the fact that Petrino didn't draft an RB (at least in the early rounds) or hasn't actively sought out a trade for another RB speaks to the confidence they have in Norwood. They might still look to make a trade or something but until that happens Norwood could be a steal. The mess surrounding Vick might even further drop his value which is fine by me.

I probably need to duck and cover for this :D but it's worth pointing out the similarities... Norwood might become a bonafide starting RB, who had a nice ypc in his rookie season, struggled through a few nagging injuries, on a rebuilding team, new offense employing a power running game, whose ADP is currently in the 5-7th round range--sound familiar? *ahem* Gore *ahem*

snelling = sleeper. they like bigger backs and this may get him involved even earlier ...

He could surprise but as a 7th rounder the odds are against him. He doesn't have anywhere near the break away speed that Norwood possesses. He's good in short yardage and has been compared to Lorenzo Neal. He's more of an inside bruiser than a feature RB.

Jamal Robertson and Snelling are the only other RBs on the roster. I would expect them to look elsewhere just to add another guy in the mix for training camp.
