uglytuna
The agent for cornerback Asante Samuel, the NFL's leader in interceptions for 2006 whom the Patriots made their franchise player to avoid losing as an unrestricted free agent this offseason, told the Boston Globe that it's his goal to have the holdout defender in training camp on time, or something close to it. The Globe notes this is a shift in thinking from a holdout until the Week 10 of the season. Samuel's agent said it had nothing to do with Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs, also a franchise-tagged player, accepting his one-year tender. New England opens training camp on Friday.
