HOU's Chris Taylor out for season

Some had projected Chris Taylor to make the final roster, and be RB3 behind AGreen and RDayne. Not so any more. Chris Taylor injured his knee in TC and is out for the season. Will Darius Walker be brought back?

Taylor lost: Chris Taylor received unfortunate news today as the second-year running discovered he would miss the season with a torn meniscus in his left knee, according to general manager Rick Smith. Surgery will be performed tomorrow to “suture the tear,” but in the interim the team will look to add another running back to the camp squad.

Darius Walker, a Texans undrafted free agent that was cut on July 23, was mentioned by Smith as a possible replacement, as well as former Oklahoma running back Quentin Griffin, who participated most recently with the Hamburg Sea Devils in NFL Europa.

Current RBs in HOU:

AGreen, RDayne, SGado, WLundy

Really? I think just the opposite. I was amazed at how quickly Ahman Green bounced back from his devastating thigh injury last year to become the first NFL player EVER to return from such an injury. I think he's due for one last big year this season before he begins to wear down next year.

And Dayne isn't a bad backup to have at all. He was tearing it up as the full-time starter at the end of last year.

I agree. Ahman is falling to the 4th and 5th rounds of mocks and represents great value. He is a proven workhorse with great pass-catching abilities, which are sure to be tested when Schaub realizes he will be nothing more than a lawn dart without the dumpoff pass.

Value is one thing, the age of a RB who has been banged up a couple times before is another. I like the QB situation better in Houston this year, but Green is an injury waiting to happen. It might not happen, but unless he falls into my lap at a crazy value spot, I won't be reaching for him or Dayne.

Green has only had one major injury in his entire career, that being the one to his thigh which he successfully returned from to rush for a very respectable 4 yards per carry (and 1000+ yards) given the short amount of time that it took him to rehab and return from it. Green is a known workout warrior, and the reports say he's been busting his ass once again this offseason in Houston (check your own link for that one). Now that he's got another offseason between himself and the injury, I expect him to be even better conditioned this year than he was last.

He is only 30 by the way. That's not old (unless you're talking about a dynasty league). LT is only 2 years younger at 28 and has about 200 more carries worth of mileage on his legs in his career than Green. Stephen Davis was 30 when he returned from a knee injury to have one of the best years of his career, and Curtis Martin was like 32 recently when he had perhaps the best year of his career.

If you want to pass on all of the backs in the league who will be 29 years or older this season, you will be passing up on the likes of Shaun Alexander, Travis Henry, Thomas Jones, Edgerrin James, LaMont Jordan AND Ahman Green (Fred Taylor and Warrick Dunn were both top 25 backs in my league last year themselves, but I won't even mention them). Your team is gonna suck!

I'd rather have all the guys in bold more then Green. I like their upside and/or situation better than Green. For a RB in the NFL, 30 is pretty darn old. As I said, I'll pass unless he falls to me at a great value.
