Egret
They're all good. Shwarma is more middle-eastern, not Greek. I love me some shwarma.
Thunder Chicken
Shawarma and Gyros are pretty much the same thing. Has more to do with the cooking style than anything else. Think mojo Ron Popiel rotisserie, only up right. souvlaki is actually cooked on skewers, the arabic version is called Shish Taook. but I bet the wiki pretty well covers that. IShawarma is actually a Turkish word taken into the arabic. The Arabic word for "grilled" is Meshwi. I won't go into the reasons why, but the words are related. n turkey, or Gemany, they call it Doner. I've had them all, from Crete to Damascus to Wurzburg. The best Late night, drunk and hungry, meal.. A Turkish doner in Germany. We'd make the run from the Bar to City Doner. Doner with Feta, Tomato, extra sauce (tzatziki) and the hot pepper mix they through on. it's all over but the crying. mmm "we learn Arabic, so you don't have to" Edited August 8, 2007 by Thunder Chicken
Chavez
I don't have a clue, but if you don't like gyros, you are dead in the soul. Or at least the stomach.

Drunk at 3 AM, macking down a kebab with tzatziki dripping down your arm... good times. So, what year(s) were you at DLI? A friend of mine (who was there with me in 1988) said she was down at the Aquarium in Monterey and saw a kid running around with a C Company sweatshirt with our logo and the "We learn Russian, so you don't have to." motto on it. I guess they're sellling them now at the Naval PostGrad School.

McNasty
Aw, crap, did you have a flashback to my trip in Denver? Those drugs were outdated, but they still should have completely zonked your memory. I'll tell you what you need to do... sit in a dark room, smoke a joint with the Allman Brothers' "Eat a Peach" album playing and repeat "I am heterosexual, and never gave McNasty happy mouth fun time. I have had TMJ for as long as I can remember." It'll pass. Now, if you start to remember what Bier and Atomic did to you, and hearing banjo music... yer own your own.
