Need a WHOLE lot of advice

Recommended Posts

Let me start by saying I love playing in this BOTH IDP dynasty league. I have learned a ton by reading through this forum although I am just a lurker as I have no advice to give as I use the rankings/starting suggestions exclusively. With that said I have a couple position questions I am hoping you can help me out with. Scoring, IDP td's=6-pts, fumble rec=2-pts., forced fumbles=3-pts, int's=5-pts, tackles=1-pt, assists=.5pt, sacks=2pts.=.5. 1st and 2nd year players can also be put on a taxi squad, there is a 5-player maximum. The other problem is a few of the key message board contributors are in my league. :D

We start 7-IDP's with a minimum of 2 per position below with one wildcard, which is usually a LB for me unless the matchup is better then I go with 3-DB's.

DL: Is it worth keeping Aaron Smith when i have Gaines Adams, Burgess, Cole, and Grant. I know the answer but thought I would ask, NO.

LB: My keepers are Bulluck, Briggs, Crowell, Dem. WIlliams. I also have Bruschi, Eric Barton, Victor Hobson, Shaun Phillips, and Kamerion Wimbley. Which of the above should I keep on my roster and which should I dump that have no upside whatsoever.

DB: My keepers are Chris Hope, Kerry Rhodes, Gibril Wilson, and Michael Lewis. I also have Keith Lewis, and DeAngelo Hall. It seems that DB's are the easiest to pick up so I am assuming my best bet is to dump Keith Lewis and Hall and just stick with the 4-Db's.

Thanks in advance and I hope I included enough information.

How many can you keep?

Sorry, it all depends on my other roster moves. I have flexibilty and am just concerned I cut a possible future contributor.

Thanks for the PM's and I anyone can answer on here as I just know that since it is an IDP both league that my leaguemates probably don't want to help me. Thanks for all the help.

MiT - I think you were the one they chose over adding me to the league but I am always willing to lend an opinion/help. Here is how I see it:

DE/DL -

Derrick Burgess - Is just coming back off the PuP list if I am not mistaken. Derrick is a very good DE as he is a sack specialist and has proven he can perform at a high level for 2 teams (Eagles/Raiders). I think he still has upside but the rub on him has always been injury and lasting the whole year.

Trent Cole - Another Sack specialist who has a ton of upside. The only rub on Trent is with Kearse healthy Trent will lose # of plays as the Eagles are looking to play 2 full D lines in a rotation to keep them healthy and refreshed. Trent will certainly play often and will be a good fantasy DE but he will do much more in a couple of years.

Charles Grant - A very good DE back in his day but the real stud is Will Smith on that team. Grant will get his plays and will be a good bye week filler and a potential starter if needed.

Gaines Adams - A lot of potential but I am not sure his 1st year will be a studly performance. Look at Mario Williams last year.

Aaron Smith - I think he is expendable but Smith will put up some decent #'s from time to time. He just isn't consistent and I particularly don't like DE's in a 3-4 system as the pass rushers are usually the OLB.

Hustin Harrell - Not many DT's are worth keeping in this type of league where you don't HAVE to start a DT. I would cut this guy.

LB's

Funny thing is we are in a similar position with our LB's and I have some of the same decisions.

Keith Bullock - Keith is a stud who produces well as a starting fantasy LB. He is beginning to get up there in age but until he shows signs of slowing down he is a keeper.

Lance Briggs - A Definite stud LB who is still getting better with each year. Briggs signing his tender is huge. He will likely not be a Bear next year but he is the type of player that will be good as long ass he goes to a 4-3 system.

Angelo Crowell - This one is tough to call. He is a young LB who was injured last year. Prior to getting hurt he was good enough that they elected to move Takeo Spikes to SLB. Now it seems like with the addition of Posluszny they are moving Crowell to SLB. If this is the case then he's not a player you want as an everyday starter. I am in the same position with this one.

Victor Hobson - It's looking like the Jets are moving to a 3-4 with Hobson playing the OLB on the Strong Side. If this is the case he will not be a good Fantasy producer consistently. He still has youth and he does have some ability so if he were to go elsewhere he might be worth more but you have to really think about him.

Eric Barton - At some point Eric will be a non-factor and just be a backup. David Harris will be the starter for the Jets but it may not be until 2008. I would not lean on keeping Barton for a long period of time. Maybe this year only and then plan on cutting.

Tedy Bruschi - He was a great LB 2 years ago but had those health questions last year. He did come back the last half of the year and actually produced fairly well. I don't think you get rid of this guy yet particularly when you have several players on the Strong side who historically aren't great FF players.

Shaun Phillips - WLB in the 3-4 at San Diego. He is worth keeping and actually may become your 3rd starter at times.

Demorrio Williams - Coming off of injury he is the WLB on the Falcons. Williams tends to over pursue but that means nothing as a FF LB. He is aggressive and can produce good #'s. You just want to see him produce consistently which he has only done 1 year.

Kamerion Wimberly - Is a sack specialist playing on the SLB in a 3-4 system. He had a good sack year as a rookie last year and has alot of upside. Definitely worth keeping and pray he shifts to the other side at some point.
