So, it begins, the PS. I hope and pray that players from both sides remain fit and unharmed as I watch the glorified scrimmage with a very keen interest-the New O. The word is Smith and Foster have looked great and Delhomme has been sharp as well, now a different opponent for the first time since week 17 at Nawlins 06. In the past the 1st team may play the majority of the 1st quater under Fox and new O or not, I would not expect much more than that that, but then again, I get to watch Carr run the new O after as the 2nd team hits the feild.. Looking forward to it with fingers crossed.

Always afraid of pre-eason injuries myself. Seems there is at least one every yr. It will be interesting to see how Coughlin uses Droughns and Jacobs, at least for the the first half. I'll also be watching how the rookie Smith and Eli do. Usually I like to go to the preseason games, but I decided to stay home for this one, the construction on the new stadium has begun, me thinks it will be a big pita to get in & out this yr. :D:wacko::D

Just a quick few things from a Giants homer. After reading every daily report from training camp on BBI.com, I will say watch for this tonight, and following weeks games from the giants.

Apparantly Sinorice Moss means bidnezz this year, and is having a VERY nice camp so far. He will get the opportunity to start tonight with plex/toomer not playing, if Eli can get him the ball he should make some nice things happen.

Shockey is actually catching everything that hits his hands for once this summer, i'm hoping and looking for him to have a big year this season.

Lastly, Brandon Jacobs is VERY VERY VERY underrated on ALL draft boards right now. The guy is down to a 4.4 40 from a 4.5 last season. His feet and lateral movement is lighting fast, and not just for a guy his size. Add in his size and you are going to see a huge season out of him this year. If you can scoop this guy in the 3rd or 4th round of your draft, he will pay off BIGTIME. and all the hoopla about tiki being a big receiving threat, well jacobs is excellent out of the backfield, has very soft hands, and imagine a man his size catching the ball in the flat with 4.4 speed? he will not be ranked as low as he is by months end, guaranteed, lead pipe lock...

ANd don't expect RBBC. the only thing that worries me with jacobs is his upright running which is obviously a threat for fumbling. Something he's never had issues with yet, but when he's carrying the ball 20-25 times a game, we'll see how he holds up. Thats surely the quickest way to wind up in coughlins dog house. His other problem is his over intensity, it WILL get him some taunting flags this season, hopefully not too many.

Straight line speed means little, if anything, for an NFL RB. And for the record, his lateral movement is questionable at best and definitely NOT lightning fast. That said, I think he'll be a decent RB2.

I was at the jets game last night, thankfully it was empty because the whole meadowlands is a mess with xanadu and the new stadium going up it is like a maze of madness out there. To think that this is going to be going on for 3 years just gives me a headache. Not sure if you know the area well enough or not, but they are now trying to get people to park over by medeivil times and take busses into the stadium, it's going to be bad when the season starts.

And to the foreskins fan that replied above me :D

Straight line speed means plenty when you are 260. and his lateral speed is much better than you think, keep listening to the guru or wherever you get your info from, cause his feet are fast.

every report i read from BBI and garafalo's blog is the RB are always praticing Tiki's method of ball carrying that saw his fumble numbers drop dramatically over the last few years. Hopefully good things are in store for the G-Men this year

I don't listen to anyone. I WATCH and use my own eyes. I like how you backed off that "lightning fast" comment and changed it to "faster than you think." LOL

And the fact that he is 260 means it will take longer for him to reach top speed. How often do you think a 260 pound man will be able to get up to full speed? Couple times a season?

I'm going to look for you in a couple of months when Jacobs sitting on 3rd downs in favor of Droughns or Bradshaw. Don't hide when the Giants are in the cellar...

ah, remeniscent of the Giants Homers pro-Tiki top 5 draft pick arguments of a few years ago...yes, BJ will put up RB2 low RB1 numbers this year. You are always welcome to book mark this page to keep a record of it.

8-8 and last place in the east wouldnt be bad...but thats insinuating the Skins will be third place, which made me lol

No that's insinuating that the Skins will be at least better than the Gnats. I predict a second place finish...

I didnt' back off any comment, lightning fast it is. and if he runs a 4.4 40 yard dash, he gets to top speed pretty damned quickly.

This is getting off topic, but 40 times have nothing to do with lateral quickness. Ahmad Bradshaw had the 3rd best shuttle time at the combine, but ran in the 4.5s. Lynch ran a 4.4, but was not good in the shuttle. Completely different attributes.

And by the way, Jacobs showed NONE of this supposed lateral ability this evening. He did his typical run into the line and look for tacklers routine...

The Panthers first team O looked great last night and the only thing that stopped them was the play clock and their HC, as Fox pulled them at the end of the 1st when they were driving down the feild on their second possesion. The first a 13 play 81yd drive that saw Foster pick his holes, cut-back and abuse the D. Goings in for a gimpy DW also gashed the Giants DT. Delhomme was crisp with short passes, two the TE on this opening drive, and ended the drive with a strike to Smitty cutting across the back of the endzone. They were also 3/3 on third down on the opening drive. They were marching down the feild when the quater ended or would have punched another one in as well. I was very impressed by the first showing, and with the knowledge that the "vanilla" is that effective, it makes me rest a little easier with the season approaching. The 1st team DT looked very good as well, the Gents did score, but the ST let the Gent's set up camp at the Cat's 25 yd line, but still the G Men had to work to get it in the endzone. The KO coverage on ST needs some work for the Panther's but other than that the 1st-3rd units looked ready to go and nice depth to boot.
