SheikYerbuti
Comfort Food - noun : food prepared in a traditional style having a usually nostalgic or sentimental appeal Mine is my mom's meatloaf. Also on my list is Corned Beef on Rye with 1000 island dressing, Perogies with caramelized onions, scrambled eggs with rice and beans (cuban style), and a can of Dinty Moore Beef Stew. How about you? Dutch Oven
+1 on meat loaf and mashed potatoes. Mine also include breaded pork cutlets my mom makes and then she cuts up a bunch of veggies (mushrooms, green pepper, onion, etc.) and cooks it with Campbell's golden mushroom soup and serves over mashed potatoes. Damn good.

Big Country
In addition to meatloaf as already mentioned, I look at a nice grilled cheese with tomato soup as a nice comfort food. Actually, for lunch today at work I had a grilled cheese and they had a corn and green chile bisque that was quite good. I added in some roasted veggies that they had with their turkey meatloaf offering. So, grilled cheese, roasted veggies and the soup. Yummy... nap time. Bier Meister
my mom didn't cook much..... not a lot of nostalgia around home cooking for me... but we went out a bit and had a lot of take out. comfort food for me includes a lot of hearty fair in the winter: schnitzel, fondue, and hearty soups/stews. My wife asked me to compile all of your FTCP from the past years so that we could go through them and come up with some easy to prepare ahead of time meals. Some were in the main forum, before DMD granted us this forum-so check there(if they have not timed out).

whoopazz
Chuck roast on the slow cooker with taters and carrots. Mom would make it on Sundays and we could smell it all day while playing and waiting for the feast. Those were the days.

Egret
my mom didn't cook much..... not a lot of nostalgia around home cooking for me... but we went out a bit and had a lot of take out. Same for me. I taught myself how to cook in college. We do tend to have a few of the same foods during the week now at home: stuffed chicken breasts, kielbasa w/ peppers, pasta with garlic bread.
