paxacha
my understanding is that there are no guaranteed contracts in the nfl. if you sign a 5 year deal, the team cuts you after 2, you keep the signing bonus and whatever your salary was for those 2 years and that's it. are there any restrictions about cutting players who get injured while playing? like, if a player injures his back trying to make a play for the team, can they still cut him the following year if he hasn't healed yet or has permanent mobility problems? Big John
For those cases, there is an injury settlement. Meaning the player gets cut and gets paid for an estimated amount of time he would have missed due to the injury.
