Packers D

The def line is absolutely shutting down the run. The safeties still look weak though.

The offense looks a lot better, especially BJax. Even Franks is catching the ball. Blackmon had a ridiculous return for 80+ yards that lead to an easy score.

What a difference one week makes.

EDIT: Lambeau leap for JJones!

Stupid question but do you see Crosby winning the K job from Rayner?

They are neck and neck right now. They drafted Crosby and like his strong leg on kickoffs.

2 TD's for Jones. That catch along the sidelines was sweet.

Rayner was a UFA who won the job last year based on kickoff strength. Crosby is a draft pick who has maybe a smidge less leg on KOs but is a bit more accurate on FGs.

What I'm hearing is that Crosby has the inside track - he's performing slightly better and a tie goes to him as well.

Thanks for going into further detail on the situation. This was sort of a double pronged question on my part. Get a little more info and jab Broncs a bit as well.

Kid looked great yesterday, Some are wondering what happened to Jennings. I read an article that said moving him hurt.

"The coaches have replaced Jennings on the front side of those formations with promising rookie James Jones, who is being given a crash course on the offense so he can be ready for the season opener. The split end, or "X" position, is far easier to learn, but the Packers want to make sure Jones knows the most difficult spot first so he can be a bigger part of the offense.

Jennings was that guy last year, although he was so far ahead of a typical rookie that he was able to learn all three positions. Even though he understands what's going on, he isn't exactly thrilled with it."

But it's the preseason. In 04 Driver and Javon both did well. Looks like they just want Jones to know all the receiving positions so he and Jannings can be more versatile.

They like him going over the middle so that's probably where he will play the most.

Crosby has way more power than Rayner. I think Rayner is an average kicker... Nothing more, nothing less. I see Crosby as a guy who could turn into a dominant kicker.

From what I've been reading, Rayner seems to have a little bit more leg on kickoffs. I think Rayner could have a decent career as a journeyman, but I agree he isn't anything special.
