Looks like he will be put on IR for this season.

Best case scenario, he is on IR for the first half of the season.

Once put on IR aren't you there all year?

I wouldn't be surprised to see him at the top of the Raider's depth chart next year.

I would. I was a hugh Bush fan going into the start of last season, so I want to be wrong here... Be was supposed to be ready for the start of the new year, then it was the combine. The combine came and passed, and he's still not even practicing. Something is seriously wrong with that leg. I don't know what to think about him anymore.

Well he had surgery to repair his leg, so he thought he would be ready for the start of training camp. Then his bone stopped growing, so he had another surgery to insert a metal rod into his leg. I think this is why his recovery got pushed back.

This guy would have been a first round pick if he hadn't broken his leg. He's supposed to be a big part in the future of this franchise. Since the Raiders have Jordan and Rhodes, they're not going to rush Bush back just to have him get hurt again. I feel that him being put on the PUP list, and possibly IR, is purely a precaution to save him for the future.

Lots of good info but if all that is accurate I think you opinion of his future is very optomistic.

Yeah, and I have serious concerns when a guy's broken leg stops healing so they have to go in and perform an additional surgery.

I had a similar injury in high school (and that was 23 years ago!). Fact is, when you break your tibia in the middle of the leg its the fattest part of the bone and the spot where you get the least amount of blood flow -- meaning its painfully slow to heal. My doctor told me I would be in a cast for a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 15 months. Ouch. Fortunately, I was only in the cast for 6 months, but the doctor talked about using electro stimulation to get the healing process moving, etc. In short, its a very tricky injury.

Also, you build up a lot of scar tissue when you are in a cast that long and the rehab process is grueling and painful. You lose a tremendous amount of muscle too and takes a while to build it back up. I played 3 sports in high school (soccer, basketball and tennis) and couldnt compete in college until my sophomore year.

I was a soccer goalkeeper and tried to come back too fast but couldnt punt the ball with my right leg. Kind of limiting.

But the good news is that its an injury that you should be able to bounce back 100% from. Occasionally I have a few propblems still with the scar tissue but it doesnt affect performance (old age does a good job of that instead).
