Savage Beatings
IIRC Reid took some time off from the team to deal with his son the last time around... I hope this doesn't become too much of a distraction for him. But family does come first, even if your kid is a screw up.
Sturphy
That's really sad. Life with an absentee Dad. I feel really sorry for that whole family. Same with the Dungy's. Think about the kids growing up with a larger than life coach for a Dad, that a whole city has an opinion on. A Dad they never ever get to hang out with. Try crawling out from that shadow. Talk about a cry for help.

hutchprime
Yeah, absentee dads are the only people who have kids who do drugs or commit suicide...
TDFFFreak
Give me a freaking break... To say Tony Dungy had anything to do with his sons suicide is asinine. The fact is, we don't really know much about any of these situations. The Dungy situation could happen to any of us (let's hope and pray that it doesn't). That said, there is enourmous pressure on these coaches to win, not to mention their celebrity status, not to mention their very long hours, not to mention the competitve nature needed to be an NFL coach, not to mention etc. You get the point. While we'll never know for sure, I'd be willing to guess that Dungy's situation (and not neccessarily the man himself) had at least a little something to do with his son's unfortunate loss of life as Reid's life probably has a little something to do with the sorry state of affairs with his kids. Just my 2 cents. These are not the only situations suicide and "kids going wrong" happen in, obviously, but it can be contributing factor IMO. Sturphy
Yeah, absentee dads are the only people who have kids who do drugs or commit suicide... No, of course not, but it sure don't help. I haven't been reading about the Reid family as closely as people from Philly, but I don't think it's that big a leap to say that his insane work schedule probably influences his family life. As for Dungy, I probably shouldn't have mentioned him at all, I just felt bad for the family is all. I didn't read that situation super close. Again though, to say his persona and crazy work schedule didn't influence his family is probably shortsighted. I work a lot of hours, and I've got 1 little one and another coming soon. I guess I'm just a little sensitive to this stuff. Mea culpa. I MEAN...YEAH! SCREW THOSE GUYS! WASTED LOSERS!
hutchprime
Being aware of the issue is the first step to combating it. Sounds like you're pretty conscious of the forces at work and are already thinking ahead, which is a good thing. Sorry for the 'whacko' smiley. Scooby
Yeah, absentee dads are the only people who have kids who do drugs or commit suicide... You would think that coach Reid told his son that alcohol and cars do not mix. It is that simple. And why wouldn't Reid's son listen to a guy who leads 52 men into a football battle? I guess there is a father/son issue that Reid may not have paid enough attention to earlier and now the kid is paying him back.
spain
I think Reid's sons are continually getting arrested just to build some street cred with the average Eagles fan...
nogohawk
I had to laugh to myself this morning when the local Phila. news showed Coach Reid "zipping" into his driveway and getting out of his car. He looked back at the camera and you could almost read his mind .... "I'm going to knock the living sh1t out of that kid!"

Hat Trick
Hmmm....a twenty something kid drunk at 4 pm..... wow....that is horrible..... yeah i mean, i'm sure you are drunk at 4pm most days, right? He's got many of problems, this being one of them. I know I drink a lot, but you won't find me 1. drunk at 4pm unless its watching a sporting event 2. driving a car after I've been drinking. he needs to grow up and stop putting others lives in danger, let alone caring about his own. Were you driving around drunk or getting into road rage incidents with drugs and an unregistered gun in your car? This guy's an immature little Megan Fox who lives off of daddy's NFL income and has zero sense of responsibility. Grow the F up already. Getting hammered and endangering other peoples lives is clearly another.
