millerx
Just curious what makes someone a newbie? What are the credentials? Do you go by when their sign up date is? What?

millerx
HA HA ..... damn, I've just seen over the years, all the posters' getting called out as newbies, by why do all the resident vets who seem to live on this site have to point it out? Why is it so important to distinguish this fact? Does it bolster your self image as a "VET"? Is it the idea that you feel you need to degrate others? Then I wondered.....well....what in your eyes constitutes a newbie?

Thanks DMD . I agree with the fresh perspectives and ideas angle. I really like the thehuddle.com and have never even looked for another fantasy site since the first time I joined (Keep up the excellent work!!). I've been coming to this website for approx. 8 years now (even though the last time I signed up shows to be in '06). I don't consider myself to be new to the website or to fantasy football, but as I was posting this topic I just knew the "vets" would have to toss the newbie tag on me. Again, my original post is just what constitutes a "newbie"?

gbpfan1231
You have to stop and think about it. It is a Fantasy Football website and the people who spend hours on this site making 100' and 1000's of posts think that the number of posts is directly proportionate to the size of the Johnson. These people (and you know who you are) are probably the same peoplpe who played dungeons and dragons when they were kids and got the crap kicked out of them by the cool kids in high school. Put yourself in there shoes and you now have an opportunity to try and pick on someone without the possibility of that person kicking the crap out of them again. Would you not take that opportunity if you were a geek?

Just as you would joke around with your friends & call them names or laugh at/with them we do the same here. Most people can tell the difference between some light ribbing & and truly bashing someone. If a new person is being bashed then 99% of the time it's for a very good reason. AtomicCEO
people who spend hours on this site making 100' and 1000's of posts think that the number of posts is directly proportionate to the size of the Johnson. Just to clarify... sometimes, this correlation is correct. Hazing is a proud tradition. It fosters a more solid group mentality, and weeds out the people who have the wrong social attitudes. Your response to childish insults, challenges to your manhood, and downright offensive behavior says more about you than any resume and 3 hour long job interview process. Message boards and internet groups are realizing what fraternities and biker gangs have known for years: Hazing works!

LosGatosEnFuegos
HA HA ..... damn, I've just seen over the years, all the posters' getting called out as newbies, by why do all the resident vets who seem to live on this site have to point it out? Why is it so important to distinguish this fact? Does it bolster your self image as a "VET"? Is it the idea that you feel you need to degrate others? Then I wondered.....well....what in your eyes constitutes a newbie? I can't speak for everyone here, but I will degrade others when they have not taken the time to acclimate themselves to their surroundings before acting. I personally have never called someone a newbie as I used to be a gamer and needed to listen to too many 14 year olds shouting it. But if we're going to define who warrants the term "newbie," i think the following list covers most of the bases: 1) Anyone who posts in the wrong forum. If I wanted to give you advice on what stupid trade you might make, I'd go to the advice forum. If i wanted to give you advice on what that rash is that you've developed after your "friend" Frank slept over last weekend, I'd go to the tailgate. Failure to recognize a difference between forums, or failure to read beyond the first forum, means that you have not spent enough time on the site to know that what you're doing is wrong and you have not taken the time to respect the other people on this board. 2) Anyone who has not read the Advice Posting Tips thread pinned at the top of the advice forum. If you are asking for my help, please do so properly. I will not reply asking for your scoring system or starting lineup requirements. I will simply make a snide comment. We have provided you the tools to help yourself. If you don't use them, you are not respecting my time, which I was graciously using to help you. I have had to stop posting over there because of how many threads I need to read to find one with enough information included for me to give a well informed answer. 3) Anyone who wants me to rate their team. Let me give you a hint, either it sucks or everyone else in your league sucks so bad that they allowed you to draft a good team. I cannot rate your team without comparing it to every other team in your league, which I have ZERO interest in doing. You want me to rate it? 1.8490522 my friend, 1.8490522. 4) Anyone who posts a thread like this. You come on here, acting like you're just innocently looking for an answer to this totally inflammatory question? I was just wondering if your mother always hums like that when she has some guy's balls in her mouth. I don't understand why you're angry. I didn't mean anything by it. I was just looking for an honest answer. You know, because it probably kept you awake a lot when you were a kid, what with her humming like that every night, always with a different intonation due to different sack sizes. I'm just asking. I don't see why you're getting all huffy about it. It's just a question. Give me a break guy.
PantherDave
You and other newbs/noobs get to sensitive- welcome aboard. It's kinda like freshmen/pledge hazing and it's all in good fun. While this is an internet MB, it is also a pretty tight community of individuals with a passion for the game of football and FF. My join date was actually 2003 and I got hazed, belittled etc..., but while I jabbed and countered right back in turn, it seems nowadays that the newer members are just way to sensaitive than a few years ago and on a fair note..we the huddle brethren may have got a little hostile at times and we will gang up in a heart beat.....most of the time it's somewhat deserved to be honest. Noobs are not the problem......Cocky Noobs that come in with guns blazing proclaiming their FF greatness without proof......will always have a ruff time fitting in here.
