budlitebrad
Maroney can't stay on his feet. Guess the turf is a little slippery?

irish
The only one looking good from Carolina tonight is Miss Teen SC. I can't lie I just got a look at their faces as they were in swimsuits, so come on what do you think I should look at?
hutchprime
Maroney has actually looked pretty good....IMHO
budlitebrad
Sammy Morris looks good. RBBC? He's running tough. Could cut into some of the carries. Welker may be a sleeper if Moss and Stallworth can't stay healthy. Edited August 25, 2007 by budlitebrad

hutchprime
Of course with Belichick it could all be smoke and mirrors, but Welker has looked good too... WRT Morris, he's getting more carries, but Maroney already has like 15 and this is his first live action of the year, maybe they're just trying not to kill him? budlitebrad
Man the Pats look outstanding. Of all the teams, I always enjoy watching their offense the most. Edited August 25, 2007 by budlitebrad
msaint
THAT'S why Smith is a stud, love watching that guy play -- great downfield block for Colbert on that TD. Just looks like he likes to hit/be hit (e.g. big Harrison hit on him earlier). Hated to see the Pats get scored on w/ :34 left, but you gotta appreciate a good effort when you see it. Skilly
A couple of thoughts about that game, at least before PantherDave rings in: I am seriously worried for the Panthers offense this year, and as a Steve Smith owner, I am thoroughly worried. Dierdorf kept saying how they were installing a whole new offense this year, and how it will "take time", so Panther fans need to be patient. Screw that! This is the first year I've been able to land Steve Smith, and I need him performing like always does. David Carr--has he always had that messed up sidearm delivery? I never really noticed it until last night. In typical Carr fashion, the first play he's in, he takes the snap, holds on too long, and takes the sack. He badly overthrew a couple of receivers, and just generally looked really lost. I know it's just preseason, but jeez. The Pats qbs were able to find receivers all over the field. And most importantly, the Panthers cheerleaders have really, really nice bazongas!
Randall
Dan Morgan looked decent and didn't seem to avoid hits. Could Dave be right that he lasts 16 games? Very doubtful I know.
Gros Membres!
Didn't get to see the game (at work... ) and would love to hear a little more info on Maroney here. The general concensus seems to be that he looked good. But how was he taking contact? How were the other RBs used? Was he involved in the passing game at all? Thanks! He took plenty of contact and bounced right back up every time. Out of the first 9 plays 8 were Maroney runs. He slipped once and tripped over his lineman cutting back on a play otherwise he was excellent. He did not have a catch but he was wide open for a check down several times but Brady found something better downfield.
Sleeping King
One more note about last night's game for the IDP people. If you have not drafted yet I would move Rodney Harrison up your board. He has been devastating this preseason .

He looked good but the Pats need to work on their zone blocking system more. Sammy Morris looked real good catching passes and running. RBBC? One more note about last night's game for the IDP people. Sleeping King
He looked good but the Pats need to work on their zone blocking system more. Sammy Morris looked real good catching passes and running. RBBC? They do need work on the new scheme but they looked a lot better once Belichick forced them to go for it on 4th down. The pass protection on the otherhand was near perfect. Morris will get plenty of touches and even some short yardage work but this is not a RBBC. Maroney will be around the 280-310 mark in carries. Belichick tried to run Maroney into the ground last night with 15 carries before the 7 minute mark in the 2nd quarter to make sure he can take the load. i_am_the_swammi
He took plenty of contact and bounced right back up every time. Out of the first 9 plays 8 were Maroney runs. He slipped once and tripped over his lineman cutting back on a play otherwise he was excellent. He did not have a catch but he was wide open for a check down several times but Brady found something better downfield. not sure i'd classify him as excellent. he looked very tentative for the first series (to be expected), and had trouble following his blocks on the second. Prior to an 11-yard run to the outside on his 11th carry, he was 10 carries, 33 yards, a 3.3 per carry. Hardly excellent. More urgently for Maroney owners, he was not in the backfield once on 3rd-down...and on the 4th-down play where the Pats went for it in their own territory, Maroney was on the sidelines. Sammy Morris played the role of 3rd-down/short-yardage RB....a frightening thought for Maroney owners, since this Pats offense looks like it will be able to take 8-12 yards of field at a time, meaning lots of chances inside the 10-yard-line. Not sure what everyone else saw, but from my vantage point, Maroney was average at best....and if Belichek institutes for a full year what he showed last night, scale back your Maroney projections a tad, especially his TD total. darin3
And most importantly, the Panthers cheerleaders have really, really nice bazongas! Had the same thought last night. Dan Morgan looked decent and didn't seem to avoid hits. Could Dave be right that he lasts 16 games? Very doubtful I know. Gosh I hope so. Grabbed him real late in an IDP redraft and if he can stay concussion (and injury in general) free, he could be a steal. Sounds like someone who drafted Maroney. One more note about last night's game for the IDP people. If you have not drafted yet I would move Rodney Harrison up your board. He has been devastating this preseason .
