Pirate lookin' at 40
I do a league with 24 teams. It basically works as two 12 team leagues and the championship game is between the two 12 team conference winners. So, each conference has its own draft. Last night, I was the auctioneer for the conference in which I am not playing. With a $250 cap, LT went for $103, about what I expected. What I didn't expect is that Joseph Addai would go for $111- the most of any player. Which brings me to this: Isn't this guy a bit overrated? I know he plays on a high scoring offense and will score plenty. But, talent wise, I don't think he is nearly as good as Maroney who will also score alot in his offense. Maroney went for $55, by the way. Don't get me wrong, I'd take Addai ...for the right price. But no way would I pay what this guy paid. piratesownninjas
A few of the owners that were sure they would get LT probably had Addai as there fallback plan... This happens every year in auctions... Not so much where the fall back guy goes for more than LT, but someone is overpaid because of people freaking out. giantsfan
Addai is the obcession this year. To me he should NEVER be better than 5. There is NO way I'd take him over any of the top 4 (LT, SJAX, Gore, LJ). You can debate SA or Addai, but going before any of those guys, or costing more than any of them is nuts IMO. TDFFFreak
Addai seems to be the most polarizing Top RB pick this season. I know there's a lot of people who want to debate LJ, but now that LJ is back in camp I think most people are confused and unsure about how exactly good this kid (Addai) is. I don't think it has anything to do with how good he is... Its how good his offense is. He is an an offensive system that is surrounded by a few HoF'ers which allows him to do a lot of things with ease.
Bill Swerski
Even in a dynasty league, I wouldn't pay more for Addai than LT. And I'm pretty big on Addai this year.

He is an an offensive system that is surrounded by a few HoF'ers which allows him to do a lot of things with ease. But there has to be some level of talent regardless of the system around him. For instance, how good are his hands for rec? Break away speed? Good field vision? Etc. The system is obviously worth a lot, but a mediocre player will not put up great numbers even in that offense. That's the difference between people taking Addai at the #3 or #4 spot or letting him fall to #6 or later IMO.
lekraus
i got addai with the 7th pick and nobody said boo about it. the guys in my league didn't seem to rate him high enough for a first round pick. i got p. manning and t brady with the next two picks. there are only 8 teams in my league so i decided to take two great QB's and take my chances with the RB's. Why would he be automatically be ranked ahead of Gore? Because Gore has proven he can be a stud? Because Gore caught 60 passes last season? Because Gore has a solid schedule and a team that is clearly improving on O and D? Because Gore had 6 TD's in the last 8 games, which is a 12 TD pace over a full season? Because Nolan already said Gore is his guy including short yardage? Because Addai has NEVER EVER carried a full load even in college? Yeah, must be one of those reasons. Unless you are going to tell me that Gore will get hurt, and honestly he may, but so can every RB with the hits they take, then I just don't see it, but that is me. Brentastic
In my opinion we are picking nits when it comes to comparing Addai to Gore - I do like Addai better personally. Last year he had 220 carries for nearly 1100 yds and a solid 4.8 ypc. Through the air he had 40 rec for about 300 yds and a 8.1ypc - 8 total TDs were the result. I figure he gets a little more with a full load should work out to nearly 2000 total yards and 15 TDs - and that's worst case scenario barring injury. You figure that's about what Gore did last year BUT, Addai plays on the better offensive team so he will get more chances. Again, we're picking nits, but that's my take: Â LT Sjax Addai Gore LJ Edited August 28, 2007 by Brentastic
