Sgt. Ryan
Looked terrible vs Pitt. Recorded only 1 solo tackle in the first half, was routinely blown up in the middle of the Philly D, and was crushed on one of the big gainers by Willie Parker. There is no word yet Gaither will be moved from the inside spot, but he is not the answer to the Birds MLB spot, and it wouldnt surprise me a bit to see Spikes move inside, and Gaither shift to the weak side. Swiss Cheezhead
Eric Edholm of Pro Football Weekly recently conjectured that he wouldn't be surprised to see Stewart Bradley have an impact in the middle -- and that was before Gaither's less-than-impressive preseason game. Still, didn't Gaither perform well enough in the "real" games last year? I don't have the stats breaking down the Philly run defense after Gaither started playing regularly, but I have to believe that's what'll ultimately make up the coaches' minds. Another option as well. The point of the post was to curve sky high over valuing of gaither.

Sgt. Ryan
Wouldn't a move to the weak side help his numbers? The middle linebacker spot in Philly has generally been the best scoring position in this defense. That being said Gaither could put up nice numbers at WLB. The point of this post was like the DJ Williams situation. Both look lost playing inside, and both could be moved back outside. Luckily for Gaither owners, if he moves outside its likely to the weak side, where if DJ was moved, which it doesnt look feasible now that the trotter talks have cooled, Dj would go back to the strong side. Bronco Billy
Williams has improved markedly since week 1 of the preseason. He's still got a little ways to go, but with the very significant improvement, I would suspect that he'll do just fine at MLB. I'd expect the same from Gaither.
