Just got done with our live draft. Twelve guys in the room, but there was one who was the proverbial "that guy." Case in point, he picked Roydell Williams (WR Tenn) in the 5th round. That was MOTHER F'ING AWESOME!! PURE PWNAGE BEYOTCHES! PURE PWNAGE

FIXED. :D

Usually my league is full of "that guy" if by "that guy" you mean "guy who gets drunk and starts picking fights over 10th round draft picks" *

* - OK, maybe I'm the only one.

In my main league, we all know each other and have since high school.

Most of us are pretty knowledgeable, but theres a difference between being NFL smart and FF smart. Here are two examples from THAT guy.... (its a 14 team IDP performance league)

1.11 - Carson Palmer. His reasoning was "the Cinci defense sucks so the offense will be on the field a lot"

6.4 - Randel El. I mean, he's good, but not 6th round good.

That's a steal. I got Roydell at the end of the third. I couldn't decide between Roydell or Roy. i finally decided to go with the longer name.

That's not THAT horrible of a pick. :D

Mine was "the rookie" in my "local" who picked Peyton Manning in the first and followed it up with Drew Brees in the 2nd.

The new guy in our local picked Domanic Davis with his 1st round pick last year.

We have decent drafters in my local. The definition of "That Guy" in my local is the guy who drank too much of the 9.9% beer I served :D

In 2005 he drafted Jerramy Stevens....

"That guy" was the new guy this year in my work league. It was his first fantasy team. 12-team league 14-man roster. Took Manning in the first round at 1.11 after everyone previous to him drafted a RB. Not a horrible pick and many others have done that as well so I wasn't too worried about his team. He followed that up in later rounds with Robbie Gould in about the 6th round as the second kicker off the board, then Rex Grossman in the 8th or 9th as a backup to Manning, when about 1/2 the QBs were still out there. Probably not the route I would have gone.

You clearly have a drinking/anger problem.

Why does it take you all the way until the 10th round to be drunk enough to start picking fights over players? Wisconsin is ashamed of you.

In that scoring system awarding hugh QB bonus points, this was a very smart move. I would have mocked out winding up with either Manning, Palmer, Brees, Bulger, Romo, Brady, V.Young and maybe Leinart or Rivers. McNabb is awesome, but he readily admits not being 100% and won’t be for a while. Once the two QB’s are gone, the target list gets shorter. If I’m waiting for my turn and the QB’s start to fall, I’ll prolly pick the QB next just to make sure. During the QB run, it leaves some tempting WR’s and RB’s on the board. Those that strike and pass on QB just keep watching them fall. What happens to the teams that wait will be to pick other crappy QB’s early later on just to have some outs. Every QB slot that gets filled pushes the potential mid round picks down. Who else did he wind up with besides Brees/Manning?

The kicker in the 6th pick is a newbie just trying to have the #1 at a position not knowing how the game really works. In the first draft I was in as a newbie (a long time ago), Elam went in the first round.

I thought our "that guy" was the one who took Culpepper 3rd overall 2 years ago (draft went LT, Priest, Culpepper, Shaun....etc).

But we've got a real gem of a philanthropist this year. We've got up to 8 keeper spots, and this guy keeps Reggie Bush (cool), Vernon Davis (fine by me) ....... and Brett Favre..... and Ronde Barber.... :D and he's even in his 2nd year.

Then he proceeds to draft 5 rookies with his next 7 picks. Not all good rookies, either... guys like Lorenzo Booker and Adam Carriker. :D

Well... thanks for the $50!

"That guy" in our league is pure comic relief. Phillip Rivers in the third! We only have one "that guy" and everyone waits for his picks with gleeful anticipation. He followed up his Rivers pick with another QB, Bulger. Two QB's in his top four picks. The best part about it is I play him week one.

What's wrong with having the 2 QB's from the Super Bowl? :D

What's the scoring system? If it's 6 pts/TD and no PPR, this was a very good move. Picking between Rivers/Bulger every week doesn't put you in an ASYS quagmire. If you pick the weeks right most of the time (against match-ups), you'll get the equivalent of P.Manning in QB production. It also starts a QB run if QB's are weighted heavily in the scoring system. At the end of the season, it's a good bet that both will be at least fighting for a playoff spot, so you may get awesome production weeks 15-17 for your FF playoffs. Also, if too many QB's go, then the last two teams to pick a QB are gonna have to back them up sooner rather than later, which shifts the draft to make more options for you in the mid rounds. If disaster strikes, you can deal either of them and still cover.

DD's (DW's) ADP was 13 as late as mid-August last year...

We drafted in Sept.

To be honest I don't care if your league scoring rewards QB's with the last name of Rivers with 10 bonus points each game. Taking him in the third round is insane. Our scoring is PPR and 4 pts/TD throw. I understand your logic but one needs to fill their roster out with receivers and running backs to be competitive. Selecting one QB early is understandable (not Rivers and I am a Charger Homer) but two QB's back to back with Rivers being the first is neglecting the rest of your roster.
