chiefjay
Granted NO may be playing cover 2 but he is still hitting holes nicely and close to breaking one for a nice gain.

BeeR
I think it's more NO D not doing well (and worry so much about the pass) vs anything Addai is doing. Not that he is bad, but he's a classic RB product of the system. Edited September 7, 2007 by BeeR
gd74
WHen your starting linebacker is Mark Simenou (sp) its not too difficult to run on you.....the guy got chased out of Philly because he was so bad !!!! Before we crown Addai as the next LT lets see them play against a good run defense.

Before we crown Addai as the next LT lets see them play against a good run defense. The Colts could've driven a truck through some of those running lanes. While I'd love to praise Addai and Indy's O-line, I think that the Saints' run D being bad was the major factor.

Next up: @ Ten, @ Hou I guess we'll be waiting till at least Week 4 before we decide whether Addai is good or not as he should have continued success against these 2 defenses... Manning --3 TD's--Harrison 83 yards-1 TD---Wayne 115 yards (I Think) and 2 TD's...Addai 118 rush--25 rec. 1 TD......let me say this is not about their rush "D" and Addai....its about "NO D" ....I am glad the only Saint I have on my roster is Olindo Mare who missed a 52 yarder in the first half..#$%^&*(---just kidding--didn't start him...Yipppeeeeee! Gonna a be a long season if they "O" plays anywhere close to this tonight and the "D" plays like a whore who just got an offer of $300 for 30 minutes (2nd half).."LAID DOWN"! Fantasy Jesus
With Manning spreading the field and defenses worried about the pass, Addai is going to have plenty room to run all year long.

i_am_the_swammi
With Manning spreading the field and defenses worried about the pass, Addai is going to have plenty room to run all year long. I think the other big factor is Dallas Clark...I saw a number of plays where Clark went into a route and took the middle linebacker with him, leaving the middle fo the field wide-open. If this continues to happen, Addai will have lots of big chunks of yardage just by hitting one hole in the middle of the line. He looks primed for at least a 1300 yard season, just by the nature of the system in which he plays. After last night, he only needs 1182 in his next 15 games to get there, or just 78 yards a game. Bronco Billy
Addai looked good last night. You'd like to see a RB punish a really poor D more than he did, but he sure did a good job.
FishFreak
Guys this is just the beginning. The only way he fails in this offense is if he gets injured. Just wait until he gets more involved in the passing attack. If the Colt D plays as well as it did last night for most of the season, Addai will just get more touches and put up even better numbers....scary stuff. Did you not see Addai get tweaked early on in the game? He had 26 touches last night in a blowout. I'm not sure you want him getting more work. In fact, he might be more productive as the season goes on if he gets 2-4 less touches a game. BTW - not every D in the NFL is going to let Addai do the things he did last night. NO was hardly a tough test as far as NFL Ds go. Edited September 7, 2007 by Bronco Billy

Given how often Addai was used in the passing game last year, I'd like to see Keith spell him a little more often. And maybe he will as he becomes more familiar with the offense over the course of the season.

BTW - not every D in the NFL is going to let Addai do the things he did last night. NO was hardly a tough test as far as NFL Ds go. Any body can get tweaked on any given play. Peyton set up that hit good, leading him into the defender. It's the hits you don't see that really hurt. He handled it well, got up and played well. The only question with Addai everyone wants to know is if he can be a workhorse. He won't put up elite RB numbers unless he gets his touches. Sure their will be tougher D's to face but if Addai gets his touches in this offense he will produce regardless. S. Jackson answered those questions last year now everyone has annointed him a super stud. Expect the same for Addai after this year.

When Keith was in the game for that couple plays it seemed to me they called pretty basic stuff and Manning wasn't doing as much at the line. As to his usage, Addai may have been used more if NO didn't let Wayne and Harrison get those 30+ yard scores. Colts were surgical last night.
