SpinalTapp
I had planned to use Peterson as my flex player this week over Mark Clayton, Calvin Johnson, Vernon Davis, and James Jones. Should the announcement that he will be used in a change-up capacity in the early going change my Week One Start/Bench decision? Would you still go with Peterson over my other limited choices? Secondly, how do you see this RBBC playing out? Is it McCallister/Bush II? I was hoping that Peterson would be come the outright starter and fantasy stud. Thanks. As soon as Peterson makes big plays I think the 3rd down back will be over. That may not occur this week. This week I would play Clayton against Cincy. Gdawg
I drafted Peterson too, I'm sitting him until things clear up a little bit. Give consideration to starting Vernon Davis.
Chadman
I think there's every indication thus far that the Vikes will share time between the two, and also have some sets where both are on the field at the same time. I'd say that the Saints analogy is not far off, except that Peterson will not be on the field as much as Bush will, but will carry the ball more. They know that this season is all about ball control and running the football - the only chance to help the passing game, to make a play action pass possible every so often. Taylor has looked very good again, and both should get plenty of time and points this season. I do not look for Peterson to take over as a full time fantasy stud this season, but will score points weekly and definitely have some SportsCenter moments. kingfish247
Alongside SJax and with my other RB2 options (Norwood vs MIN or White vs JAX), I'm rolling with Peterson. I don't think 50-60 total yds and a TD is out of the question vs an ATL D that figures to struggle on the road. At the very least he should receive considerable slop time carries/touches. cory_n_az
I wouldn't hesitate to use Peterson any week at flex. He's going to get carries and will have the goalline work. End of the year, you'll be using him weekly as your RB2.
Randall
I am also considering JJones if Driver does not play this week. Driver should play but Jennings has a hamstring issue now. James had more chemistry with Aaron Rogers but should be fine with Favre. Driver has looked healthy and they are taking it easy with him until the game. BigTen
Not saying A. Peterson will not be good but why all the hype. Teams will stack the line for both Taylor and Peterson and force the Vikings to pass. I see the running game struggling due to this. Although Minnesota has a very good line, 8 in the box will be a norm IMHO. Edited September 7, 2007 by BigTen

This was to be expected, Taylor the starter with Peterson in a backup role, sometimes on field together.
abishagenaden
Was it against Atlanta sometime recently when LJ and Priest both had something like 2-4 rushing TDs each?
Hat Trick
Was it against Atlanta sometime recently when LJ and Priest both had something like 2-4 rushing TDs each? I think you're thinking of the Texans game a couple years back where both had overr 100 yards and 2 TD's.
The Rambler
I am taking a chance on AP, plus I am going to the game so this can give me a little extra to root for (considering that this could be a really boring game)
Roo
I've switched Adrian Peterson with Julius Jones about 5 times now. So torturous. Minny will have to run, and will run = good. ATL knows this and will stack the box = bad. Both RBs will see carries = bad. Peterson is though to be more dynamic and the goalline back = good. I am Julius now. Gros Membres!
My Peterson pick in the 4th round will live to haunt me this year I have a feeling and crush my team's hopes. Didn't have a good gut feeling on this guy but took him based on talent. We might seem him as a 3rd down back I have a feeling if Tavaris stinks up the joint. Why put your bes asset out there just to get blown up by 8 man fronts?

kingfish247
Oh and the Falcons will be without a starting DT... Sep 7 Coleman (quadriceps) will miss up to four games after having surgery on Friday to clean up debris in his knee, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.Recommendation: In the best-case scenario, Coleman will return for the home opener against Carolina in Week 3, but the more likely target appears to be the Week 4 contest against Houston. Apparently, Coleman would have been severely limited all season had he avoided surgery, so while the Falcons' run defense takes a short-term hit, there's a good chance that things will get better upon Coleman's return later on this season. His likely replacement (Jon Babineaux) has started exactly 7 games in 2 years.
Square
Yea, I'm debating on AP at my flex spot. I could use the points and my other option is D. Foster for CAR at STL. Hmm... I might not really get a lot of points with either. I just hate starting the wrong one. So do I believe teh hype on AP or ignore the hype on DW taking over for Foster. hmm... For this week, I would definitely go with Foster (and I'm a Vikings homer). Atlanta always seems to have Minnesota's number, plus Foster is the presumed starter this week, where Peterson is not. In terms of number of touches alone, that could make a very big difference for FF scoring.

SLAYER
Starting Peterson as my RB2 in a PPR. Drafted him as a RB2 and will use him there until he doesn't produce. It's amazing to me how people use a high draft pick on someone and then in the first week or two doesn't start them because of whatever. unless injured my first 5-7 picks play
