Colt Brennan

Bradford couldn't hold Colt's jock. This kid is the real deal. He'll be picked in the Top 5 in next years draft.

Almost the same Off in Hawaii that they run at TT, Leach (O-corrd at the time) has sent one "spread QB" to the NFL, that mattered, 1st overall pick of the 99 draft, Tim Couch, wow he was the real deal.........until Colt shows me he can play in the NFL, I'll take Bradford for D1 ball

I am a Brennan believer. Now obviously he is not as good as what the stats show but he has incredible physical and mental talent. The Sooner kid is going to have to do it for more than a couple of games. I still have bad memories of Reggie Mcneal lighting everyone up and then falling back to mediocrity at best.

How true you are! I had more belief in McNeal than I did Vince, Mcneal wet the bed, and well Vince made history......You just never know

Hey new to the forum but i've lived in Hawaii all my life so obviously i can chime in here,

1st off comparing Couch to Brennan i don't really think is a good comparisson, other than the fact that they both played in pass happy systems. I do agree with you that until Brennan proves anything in the NFL it's hard to judge whether he will be great on that stage but it's the same for Bradford or any other quarterback.

The main thing colt has going for him is leadership, good footwork and accuracy. The stats and all that they will always be criticized because of the system, you could put a peyton manning incarnate in our offense and people would still have that argument, and it's valid in some ways but to me when a QB is that accurate it says something.

The Div 2 thing is unfortunate, trust me everyone here HATES the fact that we're playing D2 teams, two on the schedule is unacceptable and the AD is under pretty harsh criticism. But i mean we did try to schedule Louisville, USC, even tried to open against Michigan in Ann Arbor which eventually APP State filled out in our place.

You could argue it in different ways, i mean in a way Hawaii isn't going to play the competition Oklahoma faces, but Hawaii doesn't necessarily recruit the blue chip all star athletes Oklahoma does either. So you can always look at the argument both ways.

I lean more towards Brennan being the real deal after watching him these past years, i could be wrong, but i was right about Roethlisberger after watching him play us when he was a freshman at Miami (OH)

I haven't seen footage of this kid playing, but I've seen a couple of his post-game interviews, and he strikes me as being a self-serving, arrogant young punk. Watching his interview left a bad taste in my mouth/stomach. Almost like an unlikeable "Chad Johnson gone wrong" type. I think he said something about putting up crazy numbers last year and still not getting invited to the Heisman party/final, and that he realized that his team's winning record factors in to his chances of winning it this year. Prioritizing himself over the team, huh? :D You go, girl.

I actually think the Tim Couch comparison is pretty accurate. System QB that was "can't miss" in the pros. He might prove us wrong, but how many system qb's have made it? Look at all of Spurriers qb's from the 90's? I just fear that my Kansas City Chiefs will end up with the #1 overall pick and wasting it on Brohm or Brennan and just be disappointed.

HONOLULU (AP) -- Colt Brennan can hardly wait to play another game after a most uncharacteristic performance.

"Thank God, I have seven or eight games left this year to make everybody forget about that game," he said.

That game was last week's 48-20 victory by Brennan and Hawaii over Idaho, when the Warriors' record-breaking quarterback threw a career-high five interceptions, matching the most in school history.

Brennan gets a chance to redeem himself Saturday night against winless Utah State, a 39-point underdog.

"I know five interceptions does a lot of negative toward me, but when you look at the bigger picture, I'm glad it happened," he said. "It was a fluke I had that type of day out there but it finally took the spotlight off of me and put it where it belongs, on the team."

No. 16 Hawaii (5-0, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference) has its highest ranking in school history and probably needs to stay perfect to be the next BCS busters.

"Hopefully our guys realize what's at stake. We can't have one slip up," Hawaii coach June Jones said.

The Aggies (0-5, 0-1) have far more modest goals. They have lost 11 straight games, the second longest streak in the nation. They haven't won on the road since 2005 and are 1-42 against ranked teams.

But Hawaii, winner of nine straight WAC games, isn't taking the Aggies lightly.

Brennan, one of the most accurate passers in college football history, had only one interception on the season and never in his career threw more than two interceptions in a game, prior to last week.

With Brennan not at his best, Hawaii's aggressive defense picked up the slack, forcing six turnovers and scoring two touchdowns against the Vandals. Brennan said winning handily on the road despite his struggles proves how good the Warriors really are.

"It's funny, because for once, it seems the defense is what's really the stronghold on this team," he said.

Hawaii's defense is ranked 25th in the nation, allowing 18.8 points a game.

Jones earlier this week said this was the best defensive team he's had in his nine seasons at Hawaii.

Utah State coach Brent Guy called Hawaii very athletic and noted that the Warriors average more than 60 points at Aloha Stadium, compared to 47 on the road.

"That's the thing that scares me the most about going and playing this football game, is the potential that their offense has," he said.

"It's going to be fun. Hopefully we can put up a lot of points, just like they do," he said. "If not, it will probably won't be in our favor."

The Aggies will have trouble keeping pace with Hawaii, which ranks second in the nation in scoring and passing. Utah State averages just 15 points and 239 total yards a game.

Hawaii has won the last two meetings against Utah State by a combined score of 113-33. Last year in Logan, the Warriors won 63-10 as the Aggies were unable to slow down Brennan, who threw for 413 yards and six touchdowns in three quarters.

"I haven't really given too much thought into what happened last year. I just know last year we lost," Guy said. "I'm going into this year like it's a whole new game and start from there."

Brennan, who was limping slightly in practice this week, said his ankle feels better than last week. He has thrown for 1,631 yards and 15 TDs in four games this season.

"It's just tough because you practice on it every day. You play on it on Saturday, so you don't really give it a chance to heal fully. So it just seems like I'm battling it," he said. "Saturday, with game-day adrenaline, that's when it usually feels the best."

Jason Rivers, one of Hawaii's talented receivers, is expected to start. He's been sidelined for most of the last two games with a sore lower back.

Guy is also starting to feel a little pain -- from all the compiling losses.

"It's starting to get to me a little bit, but I can't focus on that," he said. "I've got to focus on a new game every time ... I've just got to realize that a new game is a new game and hopefully I can do something better this time so that we can get a win."

Like I said, self over team.
