CaptainHook
The Jags at home gave up 282 yards rushing today. Vince Young couldn't hit the broad side of a barn (he threw for 78 yards and an INT), yet the Jags still couldn't stop the run? On offense, Jacksonville called 13 rushing plays all day. Del Rio is a genius. Since I'm probably one of the few who watched this whole game, here are some other things I noticed. LenDale White is fat, slow, fumbles, and runs with no power. Vince Young has some work to do in the passing game. David Garrard actually looked pretty good, considering he had no help in the rushing game, and his receivers are not very good. Only week 1 though. Edited September 9, 2007 by CaptainHook

Sam
What's up with their running game Captian? Tennessee's def that good? Where there 8-9 guys in the box on every play? The Jags O-line look terrible? With Caddy going down I was hoping for some help from Taylor.

He was making some good cutback runs, but there were big holes in the middle of the D, especially behind the DTs. The LBs looked like they were playing for Young's scrambling and were committed the containment of Young on the outside, leaving the middle open. They should have adjusted. Point taken about Del Rio, he has to be blamed for some of this. And for not having another player that can kick FGs. With Scobee hurt in pre-game, they were forced to go for a 4-10 inside the TEN 30....and they lost by 3. You need to have the P or someone ready to go in and make short kicks. That's some serious lack of planning and it cost the Jags the game. I have been behind Jack for a while, but he did not have the team properly prepared yesterday. Garrard did look good though, I was encouraged by the passing game. Amazing what happens when you bring in a guy who has passing rhythm. The Jags O-line look terrible? With Caddy going down I was hoping for some help from Taylor. The Tennessee offensive line was just man-handling them. Jacksonville's DE's have never been all that good, but the whole line was getting pushed around yesterday. The Titans were running the veer part of the time, which did cause the linebackers some problems. I remember a couple cases where the linebackers went after Young instead of the ball carrier. But honestly, Chris Brown was just eating them up inside. I guess Stroud had microfracture surgery in the offseason, and there is some concern that he is not yet fully healthy. Plus, microfracture surgery doesn't always work. Playing the Titans does suck, because nobody runs the freakin' veer in the NFL, but I am not kidding when I say that passing-wise, Young couldn't hit the broad side of a barn yesterday. The Jags SHOULD have put more men in the box, but didn't. That being said, the offense should score more than 10 points. Scobee being hurt only mattered for 3 more points when the had to go for it on fourth down cause they were out of his range. It hurts when you cut your first round pick quarterback a week before the season, your first round pick WR, Reggie Williams, is INACTIVE, and your other first round pick WR, Matt Jones, drops a jump ball TD in the corner of the endzone. The new Jags offensive co-ordinator has said repeatedly they are gonna take more shots down the field. I didn't take him seriously because, frankly, the Jags WR suck. But he let Garrard put it up yesterday. Only 13 called running plays are what surprises me. The Jags love to run. And they flat out abandoned it yesterday. Maurice Jones-Drew had a key fumble at the end of the game as well after catching a pass for a first down.
kingfish247
but I am not kidding when I say that passing-wise, Young couldn't hit the broad side of a barn yesterday. He still finished at 61% completion Didn't see the game but it seems to me TEN didn't even have to pass.
CaptainHook
He still finished at 61% completion Didn't see the game but it seems to me TEN didn't even have to pass. Let's just say his WR's bailed him out a couple times. Moulds pulled in a third down catch off his shoe tops. A couple series later, same play, VInce one-hopped it to hijm. He was only throwing dink-and-dunk type passes to backs and TE's. Even his throws to WR's were short. I just don't see why the Jags didn't load up on the run and dare one of his WR's to get open. . . H8tank
I have not been able to watch the game yet, but it's only week one, right philly? Broussard might be a very good down the stretch... ESPN asked if he is this years colston?

Broussard might be a very good down the stretch... ESPN asked if he is this years colston? Broussard seems too tiny to be a consistent NFL WR, let alone a consistent FF option. Colston lists at 6-4/230. Broussard at 6-1/175.
