Randall
This may tell us how tough Goodell is. I haven't heard of any failures by KRob yet, but we'll see. He dopesn't have to let either back in. From ESPN A pair of high-profile NFL stars who have served one-year suspensions for violating the league's substance abuse policy want to get back in the game. Green Bay Packers wide receiver Koren Robinson and Miami Dolphins running back Ricky Williams are seeking reinstatement to the NFL after serving their suspensions, according to media reports. Williams is eligible to seek reinstatement by the NFL after Oct. 1 and will do so, his attorney said Friday. And Robinson has submitted his application for reinstatement, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. Robinson's agent, Alvin Keels, told the Journal-Sentinel said his client is working out in Phoenix while the commissioner's office reviews his application. He said Robinson was eligible 60 days before the Oct. 17 anniversary of his one-year suspension. Robinson's suspension followed alcohol-related arrests, most recently an Aug. 15, 2006, incident in Mankato, Minn. in which he allegedly led police on a high-speed chase and was charged with having a blood-alcohol level of 0.11, above the Minnesota legal limit of 0.08. Keels said he is of the understanding that the Packers want Robinson back, but would not predict how Commissioner Roger Goodell would decide. If Robinson was reinstated immediately, he could rejoin the Packers for their Oct. 21 bye week. "He's working extremely hard," Keels told the Journal Sentinel. "I expect him to be in top physical shape. It will take a couple of weeks to get in football shape, but he has committed himself and I would expect him to contribute when he gets back. ... He's very excited about playing again." Williams was suspended in April 2006 after he violated the league's drug policy for the fourth time and played for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League that year. A positive test for Josh Gordon this April further delayed his return. It's uncertain how quickly the 30-year-old Williams might be cleared to return, or where he would play. He remains under contract with Miami, where he won the NFL rushing title in 2002, but first-year Dolphins coach Cam Cameron has given no indication he would want Williams. Williams' attorney, David Cornwell, said they spoke by phone Thursday. "He sounds wonderful," Cornwell said. "He sounds like he's in a great place, and I'm confident that will come through to the commissioner."
