Sgt. Ryan
Michigan is 1-2, and they started the year #5 Wisconsin isnt a top 10 team Auburn lost yet again, and shouldnt be ranked Nebraska is incredibly slow, and certainly isnt a top 20 team
GWPFFL BrianW
I agree, preseason rankings are ridiculous. It gives teams an unfair headstart. Because lets face it, it's nothing but a race to the top, but if the top team never leaves the top, it's not exactly fair, particularly since 2/3 of the BCS is rankings now. Rockerbraves
Perhaps it would be better to rank after a month, but the fans love the preseason rankings. You have to admit It adds to the excitement of college football.
GWPFFL BrianW
Quite honestly I don't care one way or another. People are gonna have a general idea anyway of what the big match ups are, and there really is no way of getting by some kind of bias that one might have towards teams, but at least after a month, you would actually see the teams in action rather than base it completely on what teams did the year before and who they have returning. I have never cared what a preseason ranking is, because I just enjoy watching college football. I see a match up that looks good and I watch it, regardless of rankings. Like Texas a & m vs Fresno State last week. For some reason I thought it would be a good match up, and it turned out to be a great game. gilthorp
I think they could set the 08' #1 team already. That is one major program out west.
Bushey
I agree. No rankings, but I would go as far as waiting until mid October. I think that would make teams travel to difficult places to play and stop setting up cupcake match ups. It is perplexing how many people get so wacko about pre season rankings. Now if only everyone would shift that enthusiasm towards a college football playoff. I know people won't shut off their tvs on Saturday in protest and of course the schools know this and won't do a thing to appease the fans while the money flows in. Sadly, I can only hope their are several teams that are undefeated causing the non-system to drown in public outrage.
