Patriots Lose Pick...

The Patriots lose draft picks but I have not heard if they lose the Cap money also? If they don't can't they just use that money in free agency and maybe pick up an average player that may end up being better than a pick anyway?

I assume this was thought out by Goodell but I have not heard anything about Cap money.

Any info out there?

Stays the same , so whatever they don't use on their lost draft choices they can use for FA. some punishment huh.

How is that possible? I know teams cherish draft picks but they also cherish cap money. The Patriots have some high price players and "extra" cap money does not hurt them too much.

I understand that the union would throw a fit if cap money was taken away but this just means the punishment was nowhere near as severe as people think if they don't understand or take into account the cap money.

That's an excellent point. I felt from the beginning that losing sy 10% of their cap for a couple of years would be an appropriate punishment.

However, as someone pointed out above, the union would have a fit if the commissioner started reducing salary caps.
