CD6405
Texans are just putting it to the Panthers right now. If this is the real Panthers, they might as well get ready for the offseason because they will not even be close to the playoffs. Are the panthers overrated, or are the Texans underrated? EDIT: Opps, the title needed to says "Texans underrated?" Edited September 16, 2007 by CD6405

ts
HOU is clearly improved ... I'm not quite sure what I expected from CAR this season, but today was not it, especially after the fast start ... did not see the game, but like many, I'm still dumbfounded at times by Fox's devotion to Foster - that's not the whole reason for today's CAR showing of course, but the lack of a consistent running game has been a glaring CAR weakness for too long - and if it's broke, maybe it's time to try & fix it? Ziachild007
Not sure about the Panthers being overrated, but I think the Texans might be a little underrated. The defense looks great so far in 2 games. The offense is not looking so inept either with Schaub and Green both looking like great additions. Their presence along with the improvement of the o-line also lets us see what the WRs are capable of if they can get the ball. So far I am happy to be a Texans fan for once. CD6405
There's too much talent on the Panthers team for the coach to be screwing it up.
CD6405
That last play looked like the Texans of last year. 5 people couldn't gang tackle Steve Smith.

Bronco Billy
HOU looks pretty solid - they'd probably be a legit playoff contender in the NFC. It wouldn't surpise me in the least to see them end up with 8 to 9 wins. Funny how all the Mario Williams/Reggie Bush rhetoric seems to be dying off, isn't it...? Your team looks for REAL and I wouldn't be surprised if they make the playoffs as a wild card. Schaub looks terrific and the combo of A. Johnson and O. Daniels looks great. The Defense also looks really good too with a nice DL and some good corner play... They had a tough time with S. Smith, but many corners can't handle him either. Good luck against the Colts next week. As far as my Panthers.... I will just say this... The Defense is definitely OVERRATED as they got NO pressure on Schaub and was not aggressive at all. Our ST were supposed to be improved with the drafting of R. Robinson and he kept letting punts fall onto the groud to give us crappy field position several times and the killer was the KO fumble by Goings that turned into another TD for the Texans. My daughter wanted nachos at halftime, so I go down to wait my turn and see the KO and the 3 and out for the Panthers to punt it away. The glare was bad so I couldn't see the Texans drive to see that they scored, but I come up from the concourse to see the score 30-14 to see they were reviewing the play for the fumble TD so in just about 4 minutes getting food for my daughter, I come back to see that we are down 17 points... At that point the Panthers seem to lose their urgency and didn't show much until Steve's big 74 yd. TD got the remaining fans something to cheer for. The Panthers are fortunate to play in the NFC South with TB and lousy Falcons team and a 0-2 Saints team as our only competition for a playoff slot, so it is early and perhaps some errors from yesterday can be fixed with some coaching and changing of a few players, like Jarrett in for either Colbert or Carter and Williams in for Foster. Enough of my rant... sorry to vent.. Edited September 17, 2007 by PSULions
PSULions
Williams fumbling twice didn't help us at all yesterday. Actually, Goings lost the KO fumble and I thought I saw Foster was the one that fumbled on a little pass it took from Jake. I didn't see where DeAngelo put the ball on the ground yesterday, but the stats showed they he had one fumble that was lost where it didn't show any for Foster. I DVRed the game, so I will have to double check those parts of the game to see for myself.

My father-in-law was listening to the radio broadcast when I thought Foster had fumbled but the radio folks said it was Goings. They then said that Williams had two fumbles for the day. NFL.com has Williams losing 1 fumble so I'm wrong regardless. As you know I was at the game and was very dissappointed in our performance. I groaned every time Colbert or Carter dropped a pass but I don't see how Williams is that much better than Foster.

You are right about that... but I just think it is time for DeAngelo to be the started and have Foster spell him when he gets tired or they are looking for a change of pace. Our running game has had spurts of being effective, but for the most part it has been inconsistant and not very good most times and Fox seems unwilling to give Williams a chance to be the #1 guy and see what he can do... The best part of the whole day was hanging out with you, your wife, your father-in-law and brother-in-law. Breakfast was great and the weather was awesome. I saw your seats and they looked good with the binoculars... Saw Mark with the straw hat and I knew it was you guys!! The last two Panthers games that you have come to see have turned out to be pretty weak efforts, so I hope they change things up soon or it could be a very long home season. I've gotta stop bringing Mark and Kevin to the games, every time they come we lose. Bad luck needs to be taken seriously and I think those guys should simply take one for the team and stay home. Thanks again for the help on the tickets and we'll win em' next time... I hope.

Hey, at least Mark and Kevin are coming to the Bucs game so maybe they can come prepared for that game and break what is turning into an ugly trend. I saw in the local paper here today... We are 3-10 in Home Openers, including losing 4 straight. Not a good sign that Coach Fox can't get the boys prepared for the first home game each year. Two years ago it was the woeful Saints (w/out Bush) that beat us. Last year, the Falcons just beat us bad and yesterday it was the new and much improved Texans... The thing that grates me about this is the last five trips to the stadium the effort has been just horrible with the exception of Steve Smith. 12/10 L, 13-27 NY GIANTS 12/17 L, 3-37 PITTSBURGH 8/24 L, 7-24 NEW ENGLAND (pre-season) 8/30 L, 3-19 PITTSBURGH (pre-season) 9/16 L, 21-34 HOUSTON Throw in the horrible game against the Cowboys in October, the only good game they played at home was the Rams game when they won 15-0. LooGie
I had to watch the play by play, as their games are NEVER shown in my area, so i can't speak too much about it, but I'm sure HOU is very underrated. I had Shaub as my sleeper honorable mention, and Ahman Green as one of my big time sleepers. The panthers, well, i have zero to say about it. Watching the play by play, it was obvious that there was alot of mistakes (the fumble for TD and all that) and for some reason, Carolina NEVER EVER EVER plays good at home. I pray for Foster to jus go away, because this team will never go anywhere with him running the rock. Anything he can do, Williams can do better. Foster and his 2.3 ypc can eat it. I believe the new blocking scheme is the only reason Foster had a good week 1. Eat it hard, Foster, you loser. Drew Carter better get his head out of his ass, because I'm sick of either Smith gets a TD, or no one does. If it's under 20 yards, he catches it, if it's a long for sure TD, he drops it. Every single f'ing time. Offensively, the play calling seemed pretty good. It was hard to get a feel by reading it, but it seemed ok. I wont comment on it, and I'll let the homers that were able to watch it to comment, but again, I didn't notice anything odd. Except of course the lack of calls early for DW. Bah, I dont even care anymore. There's two teams in that locker room, and for some reason, the bad one shows up at home, and the good one shows up about 70% of the time on the road. One thing is for sure, it's more fun rooting for the Panthers than any other team, because you truly never know how it's going to go. Raging Wookiees
So far I am happy to be a Texans fan for once. It was such an odd feeling wasn't it? When it was 14 - 0 I was getting that familiar "oh crap...same ol' Texans" feeling but then they went and scored and then scored again and again.... I could learn to like this!
