Pope Flick
Best player in football right now. VictorY. He's not "the next Michael Vick" because he was better than Michael Vick when he was a rookie. He's Vince Young. Indy had to grind out the win on the road, while Vince Young was never given an answer to his on field presence. Yes, they lost but he's now 10-5 as a starter after having dropped losses in his first two starts? 9-3 in his last 12 games, with a loss to the SB champ. With the D, this team contends with him taking snaps. He's just that good. Discuss. Edited September 17, 2007 by Pope Flick
DMD
I think VY will be a good quarterback. Maybe not the leading passer ever, but more than adequate as a passer and a great runner. My biggest disappointment was the lack of WRs that the Titans have given him.

Azazello1313
best player in football? ehh....i will say this. i never really cared much for the titans either way. i like fisher as a coach, they were fun to watch back in the late 90s when they were good...but overall sort of a ho-hum franchise from my perspective. but now, i root for them big-time and try and watch them any time i can. it's all vince young. i think of my favorite football players to watch EVER -- barry sanders, elway, marino, LT1, LT2 -- vince young is right there. hell, i think he's #1 on the list. he has that michal jordan persona. can't wait to see the titans get into some big-time games with him leading the way. He had a couple boneheaded moves... -After a run where he went out of bounds he flipped the ball at an Indy defender... personal foul killed the drive. -He inexplicably flicked a ball at Scaife during what looked like a busted inside screen. It got popped into the air and one of TEN's linemen wisely batted it down. -He housed a ball to a wide open Scaife on a key 3rd down. The pass would've put them in the redzone but instead settled for a FG. The drop by B.Jones on the final 3rd down of the game was absolutely awful. VY didn't hit him square in the chest but B.Jones reached to his left and it bounced right off his hands.

Well, best is certainly subjective but part of my reasoning for using that word is for exactly what you have said. Each weekend, I now want to watch the Bears....and the Tennessee Titans. I didn't say he was walking on water, I said its great fun watching him play, and the indy D was having a very difficult time coming up with the stop when they knew they had to. In fact, it was Indy's ball control that allowed them to kill the clock yesterday and eek out the win, not a stop by the D other than when time expired. If you can find footage of this drop you might think otherwise. This is the type of drop where you can understand why a QB would 2nd guess the next time he intends to throw it in his direction... 4th quarter 1-10-TEN 33 (:37) (Shotgun) 10-V.Young pass short right to 86-R.Williams ran ob at TEN 47 for 14 yards. 1-10-TEN 47 (:31) (Shotgun) 10-V.Young scrambles left end ran ob at IND 47 for 6 yards (23-T.Jennings). 2-4-IND 47 (:25) (Shotgun) 10-V.Young pass incomplete short left to 81-B.Jones. 3-4-IND 47 (:25) (Shotgun) 10-V.Young pass incomplete short left to 81-B.Jones. 4-4-IND 47 (:15) (Shotgun) 10-V.Young to TEN 47 for -6 yards. Ummm, my point is that the "best player in football" shouldn't kill his team's drives with an idiotic personal foul. Look, I love VY (a UT homer here)... but in a game decided by 2 points VY killed two drives due to an idiotic personal foul and a completely housed pass to a wide open receiver. He has a ways to go until he's the "best player in football." Edited September 17, 2007 by kingfish247

Bill Swerski
Vince has been a real punk this year. He got into a fight with one of his teammates during camp, he got suspended for breaking team rules in Week 1, and he mouthed off and tossed a ball at Kelvin Hayden yesterday (which killed one of their drives). He needs to remove his head from his ass. Edited September 17, 2007 by Bill Swerski

The result was a punt and the Colts drove the length of the field for a FG just before the half. I admire his competitive nature and confidence but it got the better of him yesterday. The did a piece on that yesterday, and if you saw the pay that started the fight, you would have seen everyone on the team support him for going after the safety who needlessly took a players head off. In short: his teammates supported his demand for respecting fellow teammates.

In short: his teammates supported his demand for respecting fellow teammates. Funny how the Colts didn't go after Vince after Vanden Bosch speared Addai in the back and smacked Peyton in the head after he threw a pass. Perhaps I missed it, but I have no idea which safety you're talking about taking a player's head off. Vince is a hell of an athlete and I think that he has the chance to be the next Elway, but he's lacking big-time in the maturity department. Perhaps he needs to take an anger management class... More on this. Check out this from the Tennesseean: When the Titans lost 14-13 at Indianapolis last October, Young threw a cleat into a locker room wall and it stuck. Sunday as he left the field, Young ripped off his uniform. He still hadn't cooled down when facing the media about 30 minutes later. "These silly questions,'' an irritated Young said. "We played a hard game. Some of these questions, you can just save some of them. How we played as a team — that is what you should be talking about. We fought real hard to get back into the game and that is the good part of it.'' Young's emotions also got the best of him during the second quarter. He was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct when he threw the ball at Colts defensive back Kelvin Hayden, who made contact with Young out of bounds. It killed any chance of the Titans finishing the drive with a score. Young clearly has a hard time losing. And on this Sunday, losing was especially tough. "We got together after the game and said, 'Keep your heads up,' '' Vanden Bosch said. "We got down and we kept fighting and that is the same thing that happened at the end of last season. This team doesn't know quit. and . . . This time, however, Young and the Titans came up short. It ended with Young throwing his helmet in frustration following a 22-20 loss to the Colts. There was no last-gasp magic. Edited September 17, 2007 by Bill Swerski

Totally understand the emotions involved, but learning to control them will take him to the next level.

The training camp play that led to him slapping the safety in question. I didn't see the VB play you're speaking of. The piece about him not dressing for the pre-season game was pretty goo. He said "coach made me understand and it won't happen again. Then he laughed at himself. I agree with the maturity thing, but if there's anyone in the NFL who can deal with him, it's Fisher who is one of the best coaches in the league. Bill Swerski
The training camp play that led to him slapping the safety in question. I see. I thought that was a linebacker, so that's why I was confused. I actually supported Vince on that one, as that hit was totally uncalled for. But that type of reaction and his general lack of maturity have become somewhat of a pattern over the past couple of months. I agree with the maturity thing, but if there's anyone in the NFL who can deal with him, it's Fisher who is one of the best coaches in the league. Agreed. Fisher is a highly-underrated and very good HC. There's a reason that he's still in TEN after all of those down seasons.
