Will we see Marty-ball back in KC next year ... or will it be more of the same?

Not a snowballs chance in hell.

So, we'll see Herm go, but we won't see Marty-ball?

Herm isn't going anywhere. Just my opinion, but I would be stunned if he is fired even if the Chiefs lose 14 games.

that sunuvabitch never gets blamed for his teams lack of production, effort, and common sense. I dont get it, but i've voiced that opinion before.

I however, can see Shotty calling many a play next year, either as an OC to be feared, or a HC...well..to be feared.

edit: and for the record, I dont believe that "Shotty can't win the big one" because that's a bunch of crap. They said the same thing about Dungy when his son killed himself a few weeks before playoffs. (certainly not trying to be morbid, just blunt to prove my point)

There's alot of variables, or x-factors as I call them that goes into a winning season. Especially one that ends in a SB appearance/win. Sometimes, you just get a few unlucky breaks, a few years in a row, and you just miss your window. With over 200 wins, Shotty should be coaching any team in the NFL and that goes for ALL 32 teams. I'd even be happy to see him replace Fox in Carolina, and that has NOTHING to do with Fox. About the only current team who would have any argument is NE and maybe IND because Dungy is so damn disgustingly classy.

While I think this is most likely true Clark is not like Lamar. He wants to win NOW, he's not going to give Carl and Herm more than two more years to get deep in the playoffs. Nick Athan from Warpaint has had conversations with Clark and can guage his personality and drive for success. If Clark wants to carry on his fathers legacy then you bet the younger version is going to be more hungry to give the fans here what we want, a CHAMPIONSHIP. I give these clowns no more than 2 years.

I really want to believe that, but I'm not going to get my hope up.

I've never liked Herm, but for some reason I gained some respect for him watching "Hard Knocks" this season. I'd always assumed he was a "players coach," and that kept him too vanilla, but he looked more like the CEO staying above the fray, surrounding himself with old-school hard-asses like Gunther Cunningham (I had no idea profane non-PC coaches were even allowed in the NFL any more -- I liked that, too.)

Maybe it's just the power of TV, or maybe I just got the sense that whoever coaches the Chiefs this year has a really tough job (and that could be a TV bias as well). I just know in past seasons of Hard Knocks I usually got a good dose of how much of a prima donna head coaches can be (Brian Billick being the best example). I didn't get any sense of that with Herm, and I kinda liked it.
