Sometimes I am amazed ...

Is it just my leauge ... or do you often get ludicrous trade offers from other owners in your leagues?

I understand the whole concept of making an offer with the idea of negotiating to the deal you really want/are willing to accept ... but don't you have to begin with a reasonable offer in the first place?

I drafted LT in my local league and the guy that drafted Turner made me the following offer:

Turner + Stokley for Roy Williams :D

Is there anybody in their right mind that wouldn't laugh off that trade even if you are the LT owner? Maybe he should have asked for Roy Wiliams AND DeAngelo Williams to make it a balanced trade.

:D

[EDIT]

I just noticed that he acquired Stokley today in free agency!! Early in the week I acquired Avant and could have picked up Stokley had I wanted him. I guess he thinks Turner is the deal maker.

OMG +1

Had this gem on the table from some clown last week: A. Gonzalez and R. McMichael for Adrian Peterson (MIN, of course).

It's downright insulting. But, no matter the trade offer I try and stay civil to keep the door open for a trade down the road. It was reeeally tough with this guy though.

I always counter offer with a more ridiculous trade so they get the point.....Something along the lines of:

Palmer, Bush, Steve Smith and Gates for Vince Young

After I do that in return, they usually get the point

+1, this approach usually does the trick :D

In one league I'm in, one owner continually offers trades like this. We go over it on the league message board and he always comes back with, "it's just to get the negotiation going" and "make a counter".

Unfortunately in every league around the country there is the guy that over value's his players. Our league is no different. The guy in our league is the king of picking up a waiver wire guy that was hot for one week and then offering him to everyone in the league for a tier one or teir two guy.

The move that kills me the most is the one GM that offers up his worst guy on his roster to everyone in the league for one other their starters, then three days later you see that same player on the waiver wire. I guess I don't blame some one for trying to get something for crap but 6 times a year is too much to offer up Joe Jerivicious for my top point getter.

His response to my counters offer of Alex Smith + Demetrius Williams for Tony Romo

Comments: Is Alex smith even a starter on your team. At least through in a starter and MAYBE I will think about it.

So I offered Jason Campbell + D.Williams for Romo ... if he doesn't like that I will tell him he can have Roddy White instead of Williams ... if he doesn't like that I will tell him he can have Shaun McDonald.

I am amazed that he offered "consideration".

He may be angling for Vince Young ... if this was all about getting Vince Young I will have to strongly consider giving him Vince + DWilliams for Romo.

I countered with Lynch & Holmes for Holt...he counters with SJax & Holmes for Holt & Julius Jones...I countered with f*ck it.

Maybe it's just me I don't really think that the initial offer (Welker/Jones for Lynch/Holmes) is ridiculous. Lopsided, yes? But certainly not ridiculous like the original posters example. I think a lot of times the owner that receives an offer and finds it ridiculous is making the same mistake as the guy who made the offer. Both are simply overvaluing their own players. This obviously isn't always the case as evidenced by the truly ridiculous offers in this thread.

I don't think SJax & Holmes for Holt & Julius Jones qualifies as ridiculous either. On it's face, it seems uneven, but given the right rosters this trade may actually be reasonable for both teams.

It's amazing how many deals I've made which started out with the other owner making me a ridiculous offer first. Yes, some people just way over value their players, but if you take even a ridiculous offer seriously and counter a few times, it may pay off.
