Bronco Billy
What a terrible loss to JAX yesterday. Let me get this right - DEN goes into the game with the leading rusher in the NFL in Travis Henry, and then Henry doesn't touch the football until the 11:00 mark of the 2nd quarter? And then he gets a grand total of 11 carries? And this is against a team that Chris Brown scorched for 175 yards rushing just 2 weeks ago? How is that possible? The run D in DEN is beyond abyssmal. I don't know if there is a more frustrating & helpless situation in football than having a D that simply can not stop the run. At least when a team passes, there's a chance of a poorly thrown ball that can be intercepted or dropped passes. But having the ball repeatedly run down a team's throat and plainly not being willing to do a thing about it goes beyond my comprehension. I know Bates' D is predicated on 7 players in the box, and it is their job to control the run, but if the other team is just killing you running the football don't you put your CBs on an island & get some extra help in the box, especially with CBs like Bailey & Bly - and especially against the WRs JAX has? Add to that the complete inabaility of anyone on the D side of the ball other than their DBs being capable of tackling anyone. Even when there were 3-4 Broncos involved in a tackle, the JAX player was still moving the pile forward. The we have Shanahan the Genius going for a 1st down on 4th & 5 from their own 9 yard line with more than 4 minutes left on the clock when JAX is up by 6 pts. I just don't understand what in the hell happened. Make no mistake, JAX played a great game & came out breathing fire. But DEN just laid down & died for them, both on the O side of running the ball & the D side of running the ball - and then gave up with planty of time left on the clock. I'll tell you what, DEN needs to find some LBs who have some aggression & can tackle real fast, or this will spiral out of control. If they couldn't handle JAX's running game with their D scheme, I don't know how they'll handle the IND O, where DEN will probably have to play an extra DB, making them even more vulnerable to getting torched by Addai. Addai owners, you ought to be licking your chops all week...

Sgt. Ryan
They needed a last second FG to beat Buffalo, 15-14, then the famous Shanny TO at the snap, when Jani kicked the game winning FG which is bushleague to say the least. This team could have easily been 0-2 coming into last week, so it doesnt surprise me a bit to see them finally lose to a better team. I dont see Denver making the playoffs. Doc Holliday
I don't know why Shanny did not bring everyone up and make them beat you with the pass. they have 2 of the best corners in football and Jville has no WR's and a QB that is merely servicable. What is up with Marcus Thomas brother Billy? he aint showing nothing or his his attitude just killing him? that guy has potential and I see Denver having to do something at DT and MLB. DMD
There are problems with that team I have having trouble putting a finger on exactly. They had been moving the ball well enough but could not get the score. Now they didn't even move it all that well. Sort of wierd but they just look surprisingly flat now. Menudo
I'm very surprised with the Broncos play so far. I expected much better out of them. I guess the good news in all of this is that despite playing poorly, they are still sitting at 2-1. There is definitely talent on this squad, but, as you said, one area that you can't get beat at, is stopping the run. It will kill your season. If you get behind in the 2nd half, teams will simply kill the clock with their running game, and the losses will add up. As a Travis Henry owner, I'm extremely frustrated so far, but, I expect better things. In the first two weeks, he is putting up big yardage, and not getting the chances at the goal-line. Then, this week, he just doesn't get the carries, and he also isn't involved in the passing game. Talk about wasting a talented player. Shanahan going for it with over 4 minutes left on the clock from deep in their own territory was simply Maybe his not having confidence in the Broncos stopping the Jags running game had something to do with it, but, it was still a very curious decision. Pope Flick
Let's not forget the play that would have had del Rio on a hot seat had they lost: spiking the ball on 3rd down inside the ten at the end of the first half because both he and Garrard thought they got a first down on the previous play. had they lost by 21-20 people would be all over him for a REAL bush league move. NAUgrad
It's all part of Shanny's master plan. While teams like NE and Pitt are peaking right now, it's the teams that peak at the end of the season that go far. Shanny is purposely throwing in the towel on some games early with the anticipation of tightening the screws later in the season. Denver has almost always been a great 1st half team and crappy 2nd half team. They'll flip that around this year. Playing Indy this week plays right into the plans. Watch Denver loose by 21 while secretly just bettering their team for later in the season.
