Fumble ruling question

If anyone was watching the Redskins/Giants game yesterday, I have a question. There was a fumble around the 8 min. mark in the 4th qtr. when Cambell handed the ball off to Portis. I was playing against Portis and immediately following the game, the fumble was given to Portis (hence losing two points) and I had won by two points. However, about two hours later, for whatever reason, NFL.com and the site we use switched the fumble to Cambell and Portis was given back the two points. I ended up losing in the tiebreaker. Obviously I am furious, just looking for anyone else thoughts on this b.s.???

Should have never been given to Portis in the first place. Campbell reached out to hand it off and it hit Portis's forearm. Campbell's fumble the entire way. Sorry dude.

As someone who started Campbell I was just as pissed. However I'm guessing since they claim Portis never had possession the fumble goes to the QB. This happened to me also in game 1 this year when P Rivers was credited with a fumble at the goal line for a bad snap even though he never physically touched the football. I don't know what the official rule states about that one either but I was not happy to say the least.

The NFL corrected an improper stat. How is that BS? If they would have immediately given it to Campbell you would never have seen the negative points so you would have lost still anyways.

But I'm sure that if the tables were turned and you lost by a point or two because a stat that was suppose to go your way mistakenly went against you, you wouldn't accept the corrected stats and still have taken the loss..right?

In my leagues, scores aren't usually finalized until Tuesday or Wednesday. They usually don't change much, but they do change.

Something you should add to your league next year is something mine and other leagues have: occasionally stats are revised during the week as Elias sorts through some of the stuff. Generally speaking these revisions are sacks and yard revisions. Our rules allow for these changes to become official if they're made and presented to the commish prior to the next week's kickoffs.

You really weren't screwed here though - they made a mistake and fixed it, seeing as how Portis never got a chance to carry the ball (hence he couldn't have fumbled) you should see it as a warning shot that this type of thing could happen in a playoff game, and all hell could break loose as a result.

The ruling makes sense, because I think you have to give it to the QB.

But watch the replay, the hand-off is fine, it was Portis' fault. It wasn't like the ball was slipping out of Campbell's hand or it was too high or too low. Portis just botched it, and botched it so badly that he never had possession of it.

Not all leagues take away points for fumbles lost, and this might be one of the reasons why.

A pick is a pick, with a fumble, you only lose points if the opposing team happens to pounce on it.

Move on and propose a rule change to eliminate negative points on fumbles.
