Am I being over-confident...

3 of the 4 leagues I'm involved in are 12 team leagues. The other is a local Yahoo league that is 10 teams. I have had some success in this league in the past but have never ever felt better about my team than this year. I know all it takes is a couple injuries to shoot down that confidence. I have never been a cocky person but the more I look at my team the more I wonder if all the other owners were sh*t-faced when they drafted. Now there are a couple(only two) of these guys you can count on to make bone headed picks but the others are very knowledgeable. I am 3-0 and plastered my two nemesis' in this league. This is not a rate my team post at all. Just wanted you all to see what it looks like. This league now rewards the overall best record on top of the playoff finishes. I'm playing another 3-0 guy this week and I look at the matchup and it's a joke. Is this being cocky. Is lightning going to strike and my team ends up as the MASH unit? League is a standard PPR league where QBs get the full 6 points for TDs and 1 for 25 yds.

Here's what I got:

QB: Romo/Kitna

RB1: Gore

RB 2: AP/Portis(and I have the handcuff)

WR1: S. Smith

WR2: T.O.

WR3: R. Wiliams/Plaxico (Br. Marshall is my #5)

TE: Cooley(was amazed when Heath Miler was available for this week on WW)

K: Gostkowski

D: Steelers

I'm not looking for your praise. Not in the least. But if you look at my team you'd think this was an 8-team league. I'm just dumbfounded how I ended up with such a gold mine. We even upped the fees to $100 this year. My only questions each week are which QB matchup looks better and which WR3 matchup looks better, although I'd be good with one of each of those positions.

Now my big question . Other teams in the league are pleading with me to make a trade for one of my WRs. I'm turning requests down. I mean, why make another team stronger. Am I being a stingy bastage, or just smart? I shouldn't miss a beat, barring injuries even through bye weeks. I've had seasons before in this league where I might score 140+ points one week, but usually hover around the 115-125 range. I have yet to score less than 147 this year. I got eliminated in first round of playoffs last year after my team took a sabbatical. Time for payback? I've learned one thing in my 15 years playing FF: Never count your chickens.... But I can't help looking at this team and feel that it's the best team I have ever drafted. Most of these guys are very active in free agency. I've only made 2 moves so far. One was to drop my kicker(Gould) and pick up Gostkowski and the other was this week when I amazed to see Heath Miller on the WW to fill in for Cooley. Usually I've made at least 5-6 moves by now. I'm not a braggar and I hope I'm not coming across like that. Just more or less wanted opinions on my stingy attitude when it comes to trades. Thanks.

Don;t get ahead of yourself. I was running the table last year in my local, McNabb went down, held on as long as I could....lost in the superbowl.

Close only counts in horsehoes and handgrenades.

That's what I'm kind of relating to here. I have never been a cocky person. In fact, I rather hate cocky people. My main question was am I being stingy about not accepting trades. A trade is used to make your team better. I don't see anything that has been offered making my team better, just theirs. Now if they float an Addai or Fast Willy out there I may change my tune. On the flipside, if the injury bug hits me later on(I am very well aware this can happen), and I need to make a trade, will my stance now affect other owners later?

I drafted McNabb last year too and traded him for Peyton Manning a week or two before he went down with injury but as he was in the midst of one of the best seasons ever by a QB.

I drafted him again this year and am currently working on a trade to deal him for Brady.

I'm a little surprised that TO slipped to the 3rd round (?) in a 3WR, PPR league.

Romo, Kitna, and AP were players that you could wait patiently for in many drafts and are making their owners very happy three weeks into the season.

Gostkowski's probably going to be a good scoring K this season, but the Pats are at home weeks 14-16 and I might be looking for some dome insurance as you get toward your trading deadline. Otherwise, I'd tend to stick with what you have too.

It is amazing you got T.O. and Smith for WR's--I think anybody that took AP took a flyer pick, cuz' he was unproven to the NFL but other than that, your team looks good. I wouldn't trade for anybody--be stingy and cocky.

you have a solid team....but not off the charts.

dont forget, the slow starts by some of the perenial studs (see my team)

and the injuries too...you've steered clear of that for the most part...

it'd be interesting to see your draft order, if ya wanna share

concerning being stingy etc, nah...why make another team better?

think they would do it for you?...i think not.

Are the rest of the owners in your league 12 year old boys? Who would trade Manning for McNabb...and who would give you Brady for McNabb? It reminds me of the Seinfeld where Kramer dominates the kids in his karate class.

Speaking before you hear the rest of the players including reminds me of my priest giving me my penance before I've confessed. Both deals were/are fair considering both times the oppposing team needed alot of help at both RB and WR. Both were 3 player deals where the other team/s is/were getting the better RB/WR and I was upgrading at QB. I didn't think I needed to clarify but there you go. Oh and they are very competitive 12 yr old boys. :D

The second team is absolutely sick and there were definitely some retards drafting with you in that league. :D

Most teams look great on paper before the season starts. As the weeks goes by, the number of teams that looks great on paper declines. This continues until about week 10... by this time, the great looking teams are actually great teams. Until then, injuries and busted players, will alter the make-up of a team's point making ability. And even a selection of studs on a team does not neccesarily mean a large number of wins. Steve Smith having 3 TDs one week, and only one reception the next, can mean a 1-1 if enforced by vast fluxuations with other studs on the team...

Their is also the known factor that 10-team leagues lead to a much larger number of teams with a roster full of named studs. Therefore, the team posted here may look great when one is thinking in terms of a 12-team league (the only number worth playing), but could be a weak team when compared to most of the other teams in the 10-team league. Because, lets face it, if you were able to get that team together, what kind of teams did the other owners put together. Only by comparison with the other teams can anyone really give a 'fair' opinion of how good your team is.

So overall, I would not be over-confident until after winning the league's Superbowl. Otherwise your team can look great all it wants, but will still be considered a loser if it is not proven the Champions.

I thought you were going to say the one where Kramer buys Jerry's van for a t-shirt that was worn by Anthony Quinn.
