sacosud
This will have the Gators loose for next week. LSU should be the new number 1.
Sgt. Ryan
This will have the Gators loose for next week. LSU should be the new number 1. LSU was less than impressive vs Tulane. I hardly think they are #1. SC looks like sh*t as well. Hell, there may not be a #1 team in the country, just whoever loses last gets the nod, until they lose. LSU stumbled the 1st half on the road in what you like to call a rivalry game like your Okla State games yet they still led at half and came back strong shutting out Tulame 24-0 in the 2nd half. That my friend is a sign of a National Championship team.

GWPFFL BrianW
Tulane hasn't beaten LSU in what? 40 years (if ever?). Come on. Rivalry? LSU still hasn't beaten anyone of note in the last 2 years. Not saying they aren't good, but lets get real here. Beat Florida, then we'll talk. If today has taught us anything, it's certainly don't count your chickens before they hatch. Old cliche, boring one to be sure, but very relevant here. Prior to this season Oklahoma led their rivalry series (as Sarge refers to it) over Oklahoma State 72-16-2 while LSU leads their Oklahoma State like rivalry Tulame 60-20-7. The only reason I mentioned it was to make a point that Les Miles had alot to do with the Cowboys beating the Sooners two years in a row while Les was there. Kansas St has beaten Texas 2 yrs in a row as well, has nothing to do with that being a rivalry. Its not. Texas/Texas A@m Texas/OU, OU/Okie St are all rivalries. LSU/Tulane is hardly a rivalry. Not because Tulane is a borderline 1 double A school, but because this game means nothing to LSU. A@M can have a sorry Year, but if they beat Texas, its their Rose Bowl. Same thing with Okie St and OU. When OU and Texas was bad a decade ago, it was the same thing. These teams get up for this game. These teams are in the same conference and battle for recruiting with each other. Tulane is not of that with LSU. LSU didnt get up for Tulane. To call that a rivalry just because they are in the same state is ridiculous. This is like saying Texas and North Texas is a rivalry. It simply isnt. BTW, you yourself said last yr LSU was the best 2 loss team in the country. If they were that good, why did they lose those 2 games. Les F'n Miles is why. Dude couldnt coach his way out of a wet paper bag, yet for some reason he can recruit. Same thing with Ron Zook who is now at ILL. Edited October 1, 2007 by Sgt. I would tend to agree here, if i remember right OSU cost OU a shot at the NC in 2001, has Tulane ever cost LSU a trip to the NC game? First neither Oklahoma State/OKlahoma or Tulane/LSU are clear football rivalries because both matchups are missing one of the main ingredients that make up a true rivalry which is some sense of balance between two teams. Looking at those historic W/L records and it is clear they are lopsided. My guess is that Oklahoma State considers their matchup vs. the Sooners much bigger than Oklahoma does. If Oklahoma wins, it's expected, yet if those Cowboys win or the Sooners lose it's significant again. Les Miles & the Cowboys beating Oklahoma two straight years a few years ago has simply renewed a semi-rivalry. That happen to LSU back in the early 80's when Tulame beat LSU 3 out of 4 years. The 1984 Tulame game in Tiger Stadium was officially ended with 27 seconds remaining on the clock after police had to break up one of the greatest bench clearing fights caused by LSU throwing late TD instead of taking a knee. Since then the Tigers have dominated the series in wins although for the most part the games have been alot more competitive than they should be based off of talent level. Now on the baseball field, LSU/Tulane games have helped this rivalry since Tulame now has a pretty damn good baseball team as does LSU. In fact, two of their games '02 & '04 are ranked #3 & #6 in College Baseball History for regular season attendance records 21,000 plus.
