The San Francisco 49er bandwagon

The Cardinals are clearly the class of that division.

Next week is going to be a lot of fun. I'll be in Heinz Field in the club section, enjoying the win by my Steelers. It will feel a little bit special, knowing the crybabyies (players, coaches, and fans) that we will be defeating. I only wish Jerramy Stevens still played for the Seahawks, so that the fans could give him his much deserved standing ovation.

I'm on the Seattle bandwagon. Oh, um, that wagon fell off the wagon...I think I've got a PCL sprain from that fall

I'm not sure if people will jump on the Seattle bandwagon, after all the drownings the last time it was filled. A bandwagon can only hold a certain amount of tears, before people start to drown.

at the beginning of the year i stated that they'd go about 8-8, maybe 9-7... . i am liking the d, but am pretty surprised to see the regression of their offense... got a little excited last week when they started to integrate davis in there...but then he got hurt.

You talk real big when hiding behind Roethlesberger's skirt, don't you? We'll see who's crying come Sunday, cupcake.

I couldn't care less about the Niners, but I may be wrong about Alex Smith turning the corner and becoming a solid NFL QB this year. If you can't get it done with D-Jax, Vernon Davis, Gore, and a decent O-line... that's not a good sign.

Bill S.,

You must not watch any Niner games to make that kind of comment.

The OLine is completely in shambles along with the play calling of a rookie QB coach as Off. coord.

Smith has NOTHING to do with the demise of this offense.

Your right there are great players in DJax , VD , Gore ect.....but when your OLine(and its not even decent like you claim) is atrocious ,you cant get these guys the ball.

Plus, when there is time, balls are being dropped at least 6-7 times per game. SACKS galore.....

I tried to watch the so called great players, the Niners have ,run their routes and didnt watch the QB , just to see if they would get open......whooops the play was dead as Dilfer got sacked or hurried again and again.......Smith has been dealing with this since he became a NIner. The OLIne was good at run blocking last year ....NEVER at Pass blocking......so when the run blocking goes....there goes your offense.

Just thought I woudl inform you of my wasted day at the "stick"!

What happened to Alex Smith? Did I completely space out on an injury report?

Hurt early on...

Why do we throw Vernon Davis' name in as a proven player? So far he's had two significant injuries and more drops than big plays...

My bold prediction on Vernon Davis=Absolute bust. And I'm not talking about fantasy football either.

When did anybody ever say that Davis was a "proven player"? I simply inferred that he was an up-and-coming talented skill position player, one of a few in SF's offense.

I'm sorry, I must have mistaken them for Irvin, Emmitt and Novacek.

Davis came on strong in the PIT game. It's hard to say he's injury prone b/c the hit from Polamulu was pretty vicious. Legal hit, but a vicious one right to his knee.

Smith looked gun shy to start the season but he's had someone in his face at the end of almost everyone of his dropbacks.

I think the new OC has a lot more to do with all of this than anything else. It shouldn't have taken a sit down with Davis and Nolan to get their no.1 pick last year more involved in offensive game plan.

They way things are going, they're going to be picking high in 2008.

Didn't they deal '08 1st in the Staley deal?

With young guys, you always want to give them time to develop. But frankly, I don't think Smith has the physical ability to be an NFL starter. The very best case scenario is he becomes something like Pennington.

Really disappointed in Gore's prodcution thus far. Got him on the cheap last season in an auction league and overpaid for SJax this season to pair up with him - thinking I would have a terrific season. Now, I am staring 1-3 in the face, with little hopes. I thought this team would at least perform solidly on offense this season, at least Gore. Is any of it his fault, and can they turn it around at all rushing the football?
