FishFreak
I'm one of those guys that feels like the players determine the outcome of games and coaching accounts for about 10-15%. Well now that Kiffin has made an embarassing Raider team look respectable after the disgraceful Shell regime I'm really learning how to appreciate coaching. The big kicker however is San Diego. How does a team go from SB contending 14-2 to a miserable 1-3 start with almost the same personnel as last year? I'm not a big Marty fan but clearly Norv Turner is doing a horrendous job of screwing up a solid team. The coaching staff on the Rams clearly isn't getting it done either. What a start to the season! We are going in the right direction, we are a goal post away from 3-1!! And this is like a broken record, but... I am just shocked that people really thoguth Turner was anythign close to being a competant HC. Chargers best last years loss' after only 4 games minus Schotty. Who needs coaching when you have a GM that smart, right? 1-3 is a disapointing start for fans, sure, but not is it REALLY surprising? Did all Charger fans REALLY think thisd team could just go on cruise control?
Pope Flick
Did all Charger fans REALLY think thisd team could just go on cruise control? Where's McBoog and his "the Chargers win the division almost by default" statement?
rebdog
i said 3 weeks was too soon to turn on the head coach. well four weeks is just right. that game was horrendous. uninspired, unimaginative, and unbelievable. we're hurting at every position. we're lacking direction and passion. Jammer was rediculously weak on the short pass to Bowe which turned into a long TD for Bowe. and Vincent Jackson drops an easy TD with 6 minutes left. this team looks like its collective head is out to lunch.....and that's coaching. i didn't like the chants of "Marty" in the 4th Q but Norv and his assistants are surely to blame. players are definitely accountable but it starts from the top. i'm gonna puke. They needed to have somebody in mind, not just a re-tread like Turner.

The Vatican Hitsquad
I imagine McBoog is so overjoyed that the Chargers NOW have the entire AFC West... hell, the entire AFC... strike that... NFL where they want them, that he won't be here to comment for a while. Afterall, Norv invented that Offense so it's clearly just smoke and mirrors what we've seen these last 4 weeks... what a genius!!!

I think you mean screwing up two solid teams . . . the 49ers offense is a joke w/o him as OC and the Chargers are a joke with him as HC. FishFreak
I think you mean screwing up two solid teams . . . the 49ers offense is a joke w/o him as OC and the Chargers are a joke with him as HC. Some guys are just destined to be better coordinators than head coach. For the record, I agreed with Marty getting canned. The guy sucks in the post season. The Chargers have the talent to contend for the SB and needed a different direction moving forward. Unfortunately, they clearly moved backward with Turner. This team is under acheiving big time and things could get ugly.
Grits and Shins
Cowboys would be lucky to be 1-3 if Parcells was still the HC.
The Misfit
From McBoog's post ... Compared to the other AFC West teams, I think they almost win the division by default. ... Marty was a figurehead HC and the OC & DC did all the play calling and game prep last year. All Marty did was run around yelling "One play at a time". That is the extent of his game banter and it gets old. Coachingwise, the Chargers are as good if not better on both sides of the ball with Rivera in the mix. Norv is the teacher returning to the system he put in place and Cotrell/Rivera are a solid team if not better than Phillips (Cotrell ran this same D in Buffalo when Phillips was the HC there). Norv's last gig in Choakland was a joke. He was given a pile of poop and all he could make was poop salad. Apparently, Norv can make poop salad out of just about anything.
