Skippy
Please explain to me why you have this rule? I can understand if it is somehting to do with a commish needing to do work but if you are using a service like MFL or similiar why do your rules restrict an owner from changing a player in the 4:15 games at say 4:10? A Sunday night guy like Westbrook right up 'til that game starts and the same for a Monday night player. What is the reason?
drafter
alot of the time it isn't the commish, it is the software from the site. Most sites lock the starters 5 minutes before gametime.
DelmarJintsFan
Not to get off topic, but I can't believe people play in leagues without waivers. After Jordan got hurt, people were asking which Raiders RB to get right then. Anway, I agree with you. This year, we even changed our rules so that if you have a Thur. game, you can even do add/drops until Sun. as long as the added/dropped player didn't play in the Thur game. I know that you can set MFL to be gametime but I don't know about yahoo or cbs etc. I could understand if it was a hardship with software but other than that or a commish that does it by hand it just makes no sense to me. This is the first year my league doesn't have waivers and its great for me since I have Direct TV with the Red Zone Channel......they inform you of injuries when they happen and sometimes even switch over to the game instantly. There's one more person that has it in this league, we're usually the ones with the best (and earliest) waiver pickups.
Grits and Shins
I think we have finally eradicated all the archaic rules from our local league that were originally designed to eliminate extra work for the commissioner ... including this one. Now I see no reason owners should not be able to change their starters up until the kick off of their game

Unless you have a waiver that runs on Monday or something like that which in my opinion is way to early. The waiver should be a fair system that all teams can use not just the ones that stay up late or find out first about an injury.

The waiver should be a fair system that all teams can use not just the ones that stay up late or find out first about an injury. We used to have FCFS waivers at any time. You could literally drop a player during the Monday night game and pick up another player as long as the dropped player was not in your lineup. This obviously meant that those owners that propped up in front of the television and computer all day Sunday were the first to jump on players that would be hot free agents the next week. ... not any more. You can still make waiver wire moves up until the kick off of the Monday night game but may only drop players that have not yet played. Once the Monday night game kicks off all waivers are frozen until Tuesday morning. Much better.
