abishagenaden
Going into seizures just thinking about this Saturday... http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3046399 STANFORD, Calif. -- Stanford quarterback T.C. Ostrander will miss this week's game against Southern California after suffering a seizure at a restaurant over the weekend. Ostrander was watching former teammate Trent Edwards play on television for the Buffalo Bills when he had the seizure Sunday. He was taken to Stanford hospital and had a series of tests. He was released from the hospital later Sunday after all tests came back normal. Ostrander will miss the game against the Trojans as a precaution and be reevaluated Monday. Tavita Pritchard will start Saturday for the Cardinal (1-3, 0-2 Pac-10). Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press

abishagenaden
Had a seizure myself after I woke up to discover the result of the game. UCLA beat USC last year too with a backup quarterback. Seems that's the trick to beating them.

Coffeeman
Which serves classless USCWest fans like you right. Hey Pope, I've never even seen this guy posting here before - how do you know him? And since you're a Domer, here's a true story about how embarrassing UCLA's loss to ND was: a co-worker of mine is Clausen's uncle but a lifelong UCLA fan. After the game, his wife suggested they go down to talk to the young QB before he got on the bus. My buddy was still so pissed and upset about the game, he initially refused - that's right, refused to go see his own nephew and congratualte him on his first college win! He later relented and gave him a hearty handshake - apparently Jimmy was grinning from ear to ear. That tells you all you need to know about how nobody wanted to be the first team to lose to ND - I mean NOBODY. If that makes us all 'classless' to you, then so be it... Meanwhile, the Trojans' loss to Stanford the same night a few miles away was by far the worse one. And apparently great roars went up in the Rose Bowl from both fanbases when the USC score was put up. Same with the LSU-FLA crowd. So much for class around the country; maybe we truly are a 'classless society'. Is that a good thing? Debate...
Vinatieri Is God
As a BC fan, I'm more nervous about playing ND than any game so far this year. For years BC has been the "younger Catholic brother" to ND and on more than one occasion used that as motivation to knock off a highly ranked Irish team. The shoe is on the other foot now and I am petrified.

I didn't know you went to UCLA.? I think you and I have had this conversation before. I'll concede your point that we don't know this guy - no problem there. IT was a classless post though- correct? Making fun of a guy's seizure? But of the ten or so games I've been to at the Coliseum I have NEVER seen a display of ignorance and downright classless behavior from the USC fans who attend those games. Not everyone, of course, and last year they were noticeably absent due to freeze on liquor sales but I've seen more than my share of 20 something drunk ass punk kids yelling at middle aged women, flipping them off, trying to start fight with their husbands, etc than really one needs to see in a lifetime. YES other USC fans screamed down your punk ass students but I'll say it again: I've never seen that type of behavior anywhere else, much less to the extant I've seen it there, than I have at your home stadium. Not to mention when you guys lose, you by and large cannot even give the other team credit. And by 'you' I'm talking most USC grads down to the f ing media: I was watching Channel 7 in the wake of the Stanford loss and they referred to what a terrible team Stanford is, even comparing them to a 1-AA school. It was so blatant, as to simply be astounding on a very real level. That was all they talked about: Standford's terrible past, not their most recent achievement which they should be proud of. Your co-worker sounds like a real family man! What a guy! Then again, as I left the Rose Bowl Saturday night and a UCLA fan screamed at me "I Hate Notre Dame!" I looked at him and said "If I were you I'd hate Notre Dame too." BTW - that is such a high school level display that stadium puts on - is that cardigan guy with the goofy hat for real? I actually went to UTexas, my Dad is the ND grad and brainwahed me at an early age. in short, I'm your worst mightmare.
Coffeeman
Pope - I totally missed the fact that you were referring to the initial thread being posted - I agree that it was classless. I focused on the UCLA fan part, and then, by extension, thought you may think the same of USC fans. And yeah, I have had to shout down some unruly young fans at the Coliseum before. It has gotten better with the beer ban, but still.... Edit to add: guilty as charged on the no credit to Stanford thing, at least here on this board and at home and work. AlI I could think about was our mistakes, not their inspired play. they deserved the win... Edited October 10, 2007 by Coffeeman

What kind of a society are we in today when stadiums erupt in cheer when another team loses? Here's one fan's perspective of what it feels like to be heartboken and to have people kick your favorite team when they are down. Reminds me of Sarge for some reason. Coffeeman
Rocker, in case you're wondering, I have no problem with it. If you put yourself (or your team) up for derision through a pathetic display of ineptitude, its expected. I laughed when it first happened too, but because I was in shock, thinking perhaps it wasn't really happening... I was simply trying to point out that the ND fans didn't have any more class than the UCLA fans, for Pope's benefit. At least as it relates to this one incident.... And why would you be so pissed about the Bruins losing, when they do it all the time?' He laughed at that last part, and then walked away.... Coffeeman
And that is an example of classless ND fans how......? Its not - I'm saying that when the Rose Bowl went crazy about the USC loss, it was quite a few ND fans too. Same with the LSU-FLA fans. Although I don't put that in the same category as someone making fun a seizure. And as I said above, the Trojans were simply not supposed to lose to Stanford, so they brought the scorn upon themselves...... And regarding my co-worker, he's a poor Bruin fan - let's have pity on him for a sec....OK, all better.

Being at the game I said to my fellow attendees at the time that the crowd reaction to the USC score being posted could very well distract the UCLA team and take the edge off of their game. Sure enough, the next play was the pick thrown by whatshisname which deflated the Bruins. Also, I'll ask again - is that cardigan and goofy hat guy for real? I felt I was at a high school game (not just from what was on the field) with that dork leading clpa chants and asking for "every man, woman and child" to get up and cheer for the Bruins.
