What is up with Jon Kitna?

The Redskins were able to put tremendous pressure on Kitna rushing only the 4 down lineman, dropping seven into coverage, Sega!, toward the end of the game, the Redskins were only rushing 3 and they were still getting to Kitna.

I'm pretty surprised at this, given all the early round draft picks the Lions used to bolster the offensive line. Its not like they spent their first two picks on a WR and a QB.

Kitna is vastly overrated and Sunday's result is typical of what we should expect against better defenses. The o-line is porous, he's a statue and he throws too many picks. He's the kind of player I hate to have on my team -- impossible to predict when to start or bench.

Even though he is on pace for over 4200 yards and 26 TD's?

Oh..and he had over 4200 yards and 23 TD's last year.

I would say someone who has owned him for the last 2 seasons would read your post and wonder how you came up with this conclusion.

Yeah, the Lions' OL looks like poop against this front four, and they have a great secondary to boot. This was an awful matchup. It's looking like the key to victory against the Lions is have a front four than can generate a pass rush without blitzing, because Kitna simply won't have the time to wait for a wideout to get open. The Bears did it for three quarters, and the Redskins did it for four. I would have to say right now that if you have Kitna, check the opposing teams' DL before starting.

Peace

If you look at his career stats, last year's numbers certainly weren't the norm, and I also happen to see that your forgot to mention that even in his "banner year" last year, he threw 22 picks. Everyone's high on Kitna because of the WR's and the pass first offense. He's been sacked 24 times in 5 games, his numbers will decline if he survives, and he won't end up a top fantasy QB imo. The O-line and lack of run support will be his demise.

1. No ,last years stats were not the norm for his career. but as a Lion it seems to be the norm.

2.No,I did not mention his INT's from last year. I also did not mention his 68 % completion rate this year.

3.Lack of run support is what will keep him a fantasy starter.it is what will make him have to throw more often. as well as playing from behind.I love my Lions..but our 3-2 record is a mirage. there is gonna be plenty of garbage time yards for him and the dropoff from Garbage time throws to games they are in won't be much... as have you have said...they are a pass 1st team.

4. As far as injuries goes...he has stayed pretty healthy behind some pretty bad lines in his career(see Seattle).all QB's can be injured by 1 hit so worrying about a injury to him is no different than worrying about any other QB (outside Peyton and Farve).

I aint saying Kitna is Dan Marino mind you. I am just saying there is not 10 better fantasy QB's in football. and if you are in the top 3rd in the league...you are solid. and Kitna is a solid QB.

He's on pace to break David Carr's single season "most sacked" record of 76. Stupid neg. points for sacks in one league, combined with his quota of 2 fumbles lost per game is killing me. Too many deductions from even his big yardage games. I knew what I was getting with him, and I'm mostly pleased...but the OL is going to get him killed and he needs to protect the ball better. :D

Yeah..he needs to tone down his TO's. I feel bad that you get deductions for sacks because that is gonna be a all season long thing.

I play in a league that scores -3 for picks. He was the #9 QB in our league last year and is #11 as of today. He's streaky, look at his numbers from week 10-15 last year, they were pretty bad. Granted he was awesome the first 4 weeks this year, but again he's too unpredictable and with all those sacks I doubt he will last the whole season.

These are the same things that were said last year. I defended it then and still do.

That being said..I understand your worrying about the sacks and injury.

I just don't have those same worries myself. when I look at him I see a QB in a Martz offense(whose QB's always produce fantasywise)..I see a QB who has excellent WR's and is just now getting its starting back ready to go full time. I see a QB that is gonna get a ton of garbage time stats. then I look at his stats and am happy to have him.Although I only have him in 1 league (and it is a 32 team league)as he went earlier than I was willing to take him this year.

Glad you find yourself funny.I was wondering who that 1 person was. :D

Or maybe I was talking about some of those 4000 yards and 26 TD stats?

Just busting your balls. Your points are valid, more or less. I just don't see him being a top 10 QB when all is said and done, too many things going against him. But we can respectfully disagree, nothing wrong with that.

Start him every game....How is that immpossible to predict? 1 bad game in 5? I'd take it. If I didn't have Romo I would be all over Kitna.

16 pts off peyton and Kitna was picked with what a 8 rd pick? Manning # 1st or 2nd rd.. Kitna is a stud

1. 1. Brady, Tom NEP QB 149 29 29 36 27 28

2. 2. Romo, Tony DAL QB 130 44 22 25 39

3. 3. Anderson, Derek CLE QB 121 13 43 22 20 23

4. 4. Manning, Peyton IND QB 116 29 18 16 31 22

5. 5. Favre, Brett GBP QB 112 8 29 32 25 18

6. 6. Palmer, Carson CIN QB 106 19 53 19 15 B

7. 7. Kitna, Jon DET QB 100 30 16 29 21 4

8. 9. Manning, Eli NYG QB 96 36 14 15 11 20
