Hold on USC fans...

With Sanchez starting this Saturday, we'll get a more athletic, long-ball happy, fiery in the huddle kinda guy. A bit of a Favre-esque gunslinger. Don't know if that will cut down on the INTs, but it should allow for some more scrambles for 1st downs and some long balls downfield. So that's, uh, fun...

Meanwhile, the O-line and RB stable is still like a MASH unit, but I'm sure we can put a few HS All-Americans on the field, and see what happens. And Buehler had 3 blocked PATs/FGs in practice this week, on top of the one that made the difference vs. Stanford. (OK, he didn't allow the 4th and 20 play or the Cardinal goal line stand to happen, but you know what I'm sayin...) And the WRs continue to make route running mistakes.

Oh, and someone in the media questioned the 4 captains (Booty, Baker, Lo-Jack and Rivers) about the potential lack of vocal leadership. Cuz, ya know, those 4 'quiet mountain' guys don't exactly get vocal that often. To which Lo-Jack replied (parphrased for brevity here) 'hey, you don't have to be loud to get the guy's attention. you can do it quietly too, through your play, a look, etc...' Really? I think maybe some voice coaching may be in order, because if I was a captain and around the bench going into the 4thQ, up only 16-7 vs. friggin Stanford, I would've raised my voice a bit. More than a little, actually....

So it is with much hope, interest, and abject fear that we USC fans face the rest of the season. Either way, much beer and/or whiskey should be kept on hand for either the celebrations or depression. Be prepared, my friends, be prepared and enjoy the 'E ticket ride' that is the 2007 Trojans. So this is what its like to be a Bruin fan, huh? Nice.....

Missouri is a top 10 team, and if we lose to them, we lost to a top 10 team. Arizona is what 2-5 now, and SC had major problems with them.

Not to mention that USC needed the help of two bad facemask calls, one in the second half that was beyond ridiculous. Pathetic. It would be refreshing if the rabid USC fans would be quiet the rest of the season, but that is too much to hope.

I wish all of the rabid bandwagon team fans would be quiet the rest of the season. Only fans I see on here are Ohio State, LSU, Southern Cal, and Oklahoma.

At least fans of two of those schools should be licking their wounds of loss or unimpressiveness and busily doing that, unable to talk. NIce to meet you - Bama fan here.

Well, I'd say my feeling for Sanchez (and the Trojans overall) was spot on - he throws picks but gets some 1st downs with his legs, and USC will be a roller coaster ride overall. Playing 4 of the last 6 on the road, and the first one in South Bend should be the only potentially/supposedly easy one. But with these Trojans, nothing comes easy.

You guys can talk trash about them all you want, but I defy any of your teams to 'dominate' offensively when your QB, 4 of your 5 (80%!) O-line starters and 2 of your top 4 RBs are on the bench injured. Especially that line - they were the big unit that looked so good in the first 3 games, allowing those young RBs to see big holes and the young WRs to slowly get on the same page with Booty. Now that we have a ragtag group out there, we'll be lucky to sustain drives, so it puts more pressure on the D.

For that side of the ball, 2 of our top LBs, 3 of our top CBs and 1 of our top 2 safeties are injured. Only the front line is mostly whole, but they can't cover the whole field by themselves. Is there any other top 10 or even top 25 team facing so many health issues right now? No, there isn't - so please know what you're talking about when you run your mouth. And consider yourselves lucky. The experts weren't wrong when they looked at USC in the spring and summer and said this team was the likely #1. The team you see now is nowhere near the same, and it is only due to the depth that we don't have more than 1 loss already.

Now, I still say you don't lose to Stanford at home even with a ragtag group -since that is what they have every week - and the first loss should've been to OR (10/27), OrState (11/3) or Cal (11/10). But with the schedule as backloaded as it is, and with this team now, I fully expect 2-3 more losses, giving us a 9-3 or even 8-4 record. Unless we get a bunch of guys healthy in a hurry, then maybe lose only 1 to either OR or Cal. That would be 10-2 and still maybe the Rose Bowl.

But I'm thinking Holiday Bowl for Xmas or worse for this snakebit team, and that's just the way it is sometimes with injuries. How can AzSt and UCLA be atop the Pac10? That's insane, and it won't hold up, but that's like Cincinatti, Mizzou or Hawaii looking good so early - its an illusion, and the best teams will be there in the end.

I think those teams are: Oklahoma, LSU, OSU, USF, BC - all those should have 1 loss at most and represent their 5 conferences. And CAL/OR/USC (take yer pick) to come out of the Pac10 with 1 or 2 losses. I really don't see any non-BCS conf. team sneaking in, and the other 4 spots will come from the SEC, Pac10, Big12 and either ACC or BigEast. I see Oklahoma and LSU in the NC game, but its still early...

Id love nothing more than this. This yr its just about getting to this game. There isnt any single dominant team this yr. But OU spanks the sh*t out of LS Who if they meet, which is why Im hoping and praying for that match up.

Its worse than I thought - that's 8 count 'em - 8 O-linemen out or playing hurt. Unbelievable. Lots of guys playing hurt, as you can see, apart from the guys out for either the whole season or multiple games. Ungood....

Just read on a USC blog that ND's only 2 wins in 1963 were vs. USC and UCLA. Not liking that funky little stat at all, but it would be too embarassing to lose to the Domers - say it ain't so.

FIGHT ON through the pain boys, we need you to be real warriors.....
