Is it time to rid ourselves of the polls?

USC ranked #1 , looks more like a #15-20 team, losing to Stanford and coming from behind today against Arizona

Wisconsin ranked #5 , loses their last 2 games to Illinios and Penn St.

Michigan ranked #5 loses to Appalachian St and Oregon to open the season

OU gets tripped up by Colorado

Louisville preseason top 10 has 3 losses already

LSU was sold as the best defense in the country and they have been walked on by Florida and Kentucky the last 2 weeks

Nebraska was to be a big player this season and it seems the suck up the joint

This is just a short list of the horrible rankings set out in the early weeks of the season.

When will the media decide to let this play out on the field and not give such an unfair advantage to those teams not ranked so high to start the season?

What good are the polls when total fluke teams like BCU, South Florida, and South Carolina take up space? And then teams like Cal and Ohio State get gravy for the first half of the year only to be exposed when it counts?

I used to be a big fan of college football, but now it's just a big joke.

Ohio State has taken care of business. They've quietly moved up the polls due to other teams losses, but look, those team DID lose, how good were they really?

South Florida, DID go into Auburn and win. I give them credit for that, because I think that win is only gonna get better and better, look with LSU's loss, Auburn could easily take the SEC now, if they beat LSU, so USF, could say they knocked off the SEC champions potentially.

I agree preseason polls suck, but you can't blame Ohio State for moving up by default. They have taken care of business. And now ESPN can cry about it, herbstreit loves the chalk. I am happy to see these over hyped teams get knocked down a notch. I was not surprised by LSU getting knocked down a notch, but I have been very surprised about USC, but hey USC did win, and still might end up with this thing. I wonder... how far will LSU drop after losing to a ranked team on the road, because USC certainly didnt get punished at all for losing to one of the worst teams in division 1 at home.

Agree with your point on South Florida, if they go undefeated, they deserve a shot. They did go into Auburn and win, Auburn just went to Florida last week and knoced them off. Florida had LSU beat up silly, but Les gets lucky with 6 4th down conversion calls. South Florida runs out and beats Cincy, Rutgers and Louisville , then i'm all for them making the NC game. The Bucks started the season at #11, so they were'nt handed anything like LSU and USC were. They earned the #1 ranking by beating everyone they've faced, and that D is now the #1 rated defense in the country and the offense is slowly becoming very very good.
