tonyr0802
I didn't see this posted anywhere else. Question is, how does this affect Evans this year. ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that the Bills have notified Trent Edwards that he will be the team's Week 7 starter. The J.P. Losman era is over. The fact that Buffalo would start Edwards against the Ravens of all teams says they want him to get experience and probably let him start the rest of the season. ESPN added that owner Ralph Wilson may have had a hand in the decision to go with Edwards, but ultimately it's the right move. He's their guy. We'd drop Losman in all formats. wildcat2334
good move for Buffalo. Edwards is a talented QB who could turn into a stud. Loseman was taking these guys nowhere
Egret
I just traded for Evans in my eight player keeper league. I gave up Hasselbeck for him. Meh. I wasn't starting Hasselbeck, and I don't expect to start Evans for now. Trent Edwards has skills.
dabuffbills
I don't know if I would say the Losman era is over. If Edwards starts to falter, Buffalo will probably go back to Losman
aqualung
I don't know if I would say the Losman era is over. If Edwards starts to falter, Buffalo will probably go back to Losman I do like the way Edwards has stuck in there though, he seems to get the ball away a lot quicker than Losman. DelmarJintsFan
I can honestly say, I just don't understand all this hype over Edwards. It reminds me a lot of the clamoring for D. Carr to replace Delhomme, in fact. Losman faced 3 of the toughest pass Ds before he got hurt (Den, Pit, NE). And the game plans seemed to be scaled back as well. What has Edwards done? He beat the Jets (no tough job there) with mediocre numbers. Then he produced a whopping 3 pts. against Dal, again w/mediocre numbers. I get a lot of Bills games where I live and I've always liked them. But I distinctly remember being at a game where the fans were screaming, "Marv, Jim, we love you guys!" when the came out of the tunnel at the start of the game and screaming, "You guys suck!! Bring on Reich!" when they were down at the half. Just goes to show you, the most popular player on the team is the backup QB. Let's see if that can work for Losman now! As much as I like Buffalo and the intensity of their fans, I think they're wrong on this one. There's not much going on in Buffalo so they seem to take everything to the extremes. I agree with the Ravens fan above, I think they're going to feast on Edwards. Edwards will make Ferrotte of last week look like Jim Kelly. luke davenport
Bills homer here: Edwards has looked more poised and much less mistake-prone. That does not mean the Bills have made the right choice here necessarily. They have decided Trent's two starts have looked better than JP's three starts this year. JP actually had a nice second half last year and had the Bills in wildcard contention up to Week 15. He just seemed to have regressed a bit this year and that was a no-no given that: 1. The Bills have not made the playoffs since 2000. 2. After next year he is a free agent and they would have to decide soon whether to extend his contract for big $. 3. Losman was the previous GM's pick while Edwards was Marv Levy's choice. Losman has a cannon and good legs. He could still make it big in this league, and I imagine if Edwards were to really stumble, he could be back in. But it certainly looks like the Bills are turning the page. PS- At least temporarily, this hurts Evans' value. He is a deep threat that was much more dangerous under JP than he currently is w/ Edwards. That may change in time, but for now the offense will be more safe, more conservative and less Evans-friendly.

Square
Wasn't Edwards the QB in the Dallas game where they only had one completion to Evans for 12 yards? The week after I dropped Evans for the Chester Taylor handcuff on AP. I just couldn't wait around hoping they decide to throw the deep ball. Lee Evans has averaged 1.8 points per week excluding their bye in my non-ppr league. I really think people should forget about him except in very deep keeper leagues. More on topic... Edwards did look fairly poised for being inexperienced. I think he has some upside so hopefully this is a positive move for the Bills. Bill Swerski
Losman has a cannon and good legs. He could still make it big in this league, and I imagine if Edwards were to really stumble, he could be back in. But it certainly looks like the Bills are turning the page. I don't blame the Bills for wanting to move on, but I agree that Losman still has tremendous upside and has a shot of making it somewhere. Playing on a horrible Bills offense with Dick Jauron running the show certainly hasn't put him in a position to succeed.
wildcat2334
I think it is a pretty easy call. Trent Edwards is a better QB than Loseman. Dude has all the tools, makes quicker reads and gets the ball out quicker, he has a good feel for the position. as for making Frerrotte's 5 int game last week look like Jim Kelly? yer outta yer mind- the kid will be fine at home. Moti
Just from watching Edwards he makes a lot of smart plays. To say he played an easy team that he beat in the Jets is true but Losman probably would have found a way to lose that game. The reason that Lee Evans doesn't like Edwards is that fact that he is a big play Wide. He likes the long bomb and the TD, which we like as well, but that is the type of QB that Losman is. That type of QB is not the type of QB you want in the franchise as an owner.
