Im gonna be going to St.Louis for next weekends game 10/28.. Just wanted to know if scalping was legal there, and or am I better off buying tickets outside the stadium or just getting something on the net like stubhub. Just asking because i remember when i went to Indy last year i spent like 150 for my ticket online, then i got to the game, and realized scalping was legal and they were selling similar seats for like 75 bucks.. Any info would help. Thanks

That's actually a tricky question. It used to be illegal, and it was recently repealed to make it legal to scalp tickets, but I don't know whether it has actually taken effect or not.

Now from a practical standpoint, I will tell you there will be lots and lots of guys walking around selling tickets right in front ot the cops and they don't care. Tickets will NOT be hard to come by, and with as bad as the Rams are playing this year, you can often get tickets BELOW face value. In fact, I think there are still tickets available at the box office, just not good ones.

Have you ever been here before? Where are you staying? Have a great time!

Nope never been there before, but me and friends go to 1 stadium every year... Well we had picked St.Louis earlier in the year, and we are stuck with seeing a crappy game probably. Staying at Crown Plaza downtown. Gonna be there from fri-mon, any suggestions on other things to do/see there? or good places to eat? Any good party places (clubs bars, nothing too young nothing too old, we are both 30 years old)

Couple things off the top of my head, I'll post more later as I think of things:

1. St. Louis is famous for its Italian food, especially in an area called The Hill, which is a short cab ride from downtown. If you'd like to stay downtown to eat, go to Charlie Gitto's (he has a place on The Hill and one downtown.) Great Italian food, and a favorite of locals and tourists as well as some celebs (Tommy Lasorda is a friend of Gitto's). On the hill you can try Rigazzi's, Zia's or Cunetto's for more casual Italian or Giovanni's for high-end Italian. All of these are excellent. Either way you go, you have to try some Toasted Ravioli as an appetizer, it is a local delicacy and it is delicious. Wear loose pants.

2. For night life downtown, you can go to Laclede's Landing, which is an entertainment district right down on the riverfront that has lots of dining and club choices. If you like the Blues, go to the Soulard neighborhood and try 1860's or Great Grizzly Bear or Mike and Min's. Most of these places range somewhere between "Honky-Tonk" and "Dive", but why would you want to see the Blues anywhere nice?

3. As for food on game day (or anytime else) there is a micro-brewery/ restaurant called Morgan Street Brewery just a couple blocks from the stadium and the beers and the food are OUTSTANDING.

I'll post more if I think of anything.

Good stuff, lotta good info there. Definately will check the Brewery, im guessing its a good spot to go after the game?

As for Laclede's Landing, im not huge on the blues, but i would definatly stop in and check it out, im not against it, are there other places there like bar/lounge type places ( you know like something where there will actually be chiks there.. lol)

As for Charlie Gitto's, whats the atmosphere? casual? semi casual? Formal? lol

The landing is just a regular entertainment district type place with lots of bars, clubs and restaurants. The Blues area is Soulard, and if you're not into it, no biggie. Morgan Street Brewery is on the edge of the Landing and that is definitely where to go after the game.

As for Gitto's, it pretty casual, and like I said - don't miss the toasted ravioli appetizer. Awesome!

Crowne Plaza is walking distance from Laclede's landing. Lot's of cheesy casual bars and public friendly restaurants (Morgan Street Brewery, St. louis Fish Market, etc) but it's probably where you'll want to hangout. There's also a dirty casino called the President right next to Laclede's Landing. The Crowne Plaza also has a suitable bar to just hangout and have a few beers too. There's a Hooters about 3 blocks up from you if you like that sort of thing. Downtown isn't that hopping now that baseball is over and the Rams suck so most of the bars around the new ballpark will either be dead or closed. You're about 3 blocks from the stadium.

If you don't mind the walk or cheap cab fare, head up to Washington Ave, dress nice and go to Lucas Park Grille, HOT HOT HOT women and trendy place. I've done some advertising for them and it's a pretty cool place. There are also a ton of clubs in that area if you're into that too.

The Hill is about a 10-15 min cab drive and has great italian food and Soulard is cool for irish pubs and laid back dive bars.

Clayton is another area for hot women and trendy food but it's about 20mins out of downtown St. Louis. Shoot me a PM if you happen to head into Clayton since I'm in that area and I'll buy you and your friends a round or two if my schedule allows.

Have fun and the weather should clear up tomorrow. It's piss ass miserable right now.

Go to the Landing if you want to get laid. Very easy women there.

Go to Washington Ave or Clayton if you want to have to work to get laid but the chicks will be hot as hell.

I lived in STL for 13 years and can tell you that if you DON'T have some toasted ravioli while you're there, you will be missing out. It's good. Real good.

Good advice given so far, not too much I can add...plus I'm sure things have changed quite a bit since I was there. Definitely go get some italian food...that's one of my "must dos" everytime I'm back. You can't go wrong with any of the restaurants mentioned here.

There's also the big AB Brewery in town that you could go tour if you're looking for something to do in the afternoon. Even if you're not a big fan of the mass-produced beers, it's a pretty impressive place. I haven't been on the tour in quite a while, but a buddy of mine did it about a year ago and said it was a good time.

Enjoy your trip....you never know about the game, could end up being the game of the week (that whole "any given sunday" stuff...).

Cunetto's is the best value on the hill...great portions, delicious food, casual atmosphere.

If you are 30'ish, the Landing may be a little too sophmoric for you....more college-aged atmosphere. Follow Twiley's advice and head out to Clayton, and there are plenty of more upscale drinkeries that will provide much better eye-candy.

Head further west on I-70 to Saint Charles, and two of the midwest's best casino's (with some terrific bars/nightclubs) are there....Harrrah's and Ameristar...Harrah's first, if you have the time.

Or, if you just wanna look at some nekkid gals, head across the bridge from downtown to Illinois, better know as "the East side"...plenty of places for that kind of thing...or so I'm told :D

I personally thnk Cunetto's has slipped a little, but that's personal preference, it's still very good.

GREAT advice on the East Side by the way, some of the best gentlemen's clubs in the country. (Not that I would know anything about that.) Also great advice on the Casinos, take the cab ride and go to Harrah's.

Got back from St.Louis on Monday, and thought Id just share how my weekend went after all the advice I got here.

(Just on a side note, me and my friends go to 1 or 2 stadiums every year, this is our tradition to try to see every nfl stadium, and this year we picked the Rams. We've done Giants/Jets, Rams, Colts, Browns and Jags so far, and for MLB we've done Mets/Yanks, RedSox, Indians, we started in 2004)

Friday we spent most of the day checking out the town, went up in the Arch, and spent some time in Hooters. Im not a big hooters guy, but thats probably one of the best ive been in believe it or not. I thought the city itself was pretty cool, very small though. Busch stadium looks real nice, we're already talking about going back in the spring to catch a Cardinals game. I found it to be a friendly city, people seemed to be able to tell we were from NY within like 30 seconds, even the guys hustlin on the corners, had a few funny conversations with those guys over the weekend, somethin that would never happen in NY. Anyway, we spent Friday night at the landing for the most part, wasnt horrible but just didnt ever seem to feel comfortable there. It wasnt dead or anything, but the atmosphere just never seemed too exciting. Friday night was a bit of a blur though after drinking for about 12 hours and droppin 2 vic's.. Had a good time though, we had some good laughs.

Saturday we spent the day checking out "The Hill" we hit the Anheiser Busch Tour, slammed some drinks there, and basically jus ran around. Had dinner at Charlie Gittos (Downtown), was pretty good, And yes we had toasted ravioli. The day b4 everyone was pumping up that Saturday was gonna be a big day because everyone is treating it like Halloween dressing up n poopy poopster poop poop poop. So we got a heads up from some 1 that they were doing a big costume pub crawl in Soulard and would be hitting close to 30 bars. So we ran to the costume shop on the landing and costumed up (ya sounds pretty gay, but it actually worked out well for us, rofl) Our 1st stop was some bar called Molly's and the atmosphere there was great.(had a better time there alone then we did the whole night b4 at the landing) Everyone was in costume, and we met chicks within like 10 minutes of being there, and bar hopped with them all night long all the way back to the Hotel Bar :D There were 4 of us who went to St. Louis and 2 of us "hooked up" That night i got 1 hour of sleep, and had to be ready for the 12:00 game. Bought tickets from a scalper, good seats, face value of the tickets were 100 bucks and we go them for 80. I thought the little tailgating party b4 the game was pretty good, had alot of fun, and the 8 dollor 22ounce mixed drinks hit the spot. Found the dome to be a bit dreary and depressing inside, just not a fan of domes.. Few more drinks at the game and by mid 3rd quarter i was comatose.. We ran wild in the stadium though making a spectacle of ourselves as usual. Passed out in the hotel after the game from about 3:30 to about 7:00, grabbed a quick bite and went to the bar next to the Plaza, forget the name, Jp's or Pj's or something. Dont really remember everything that happened that weekend but we all had a great time. Much better than the last game we went to wich was Indy. Thats got to be the worst city ive ever been to.

Ill post a few picks as soon as i upload them to my computer. As in every other trip, drank too much, slept too little, but good times..

Glad you had a good time, I believe the bar you went to on Sunday was AJs. A blind man with no hands and no dick could get laid in there on a Friday or Saturday. I've never been a big fan of the Landing but I use to hangout in Soulard quite a bit after college (Molly's, MIke & Mins, McGurks, Johnny's, Carson's, 1860's, Norton's, etc). Girls that like to drink and have random sex are abound in that area - ah, to be single again.

Too bad you didn't get up Washington Avenue or Clayton... model caliber women at those places but they're usually just looking for guys with money and large check books so bring the GHB, errrr I mean your credit card. :D

I'm headed to St. Louis for the Packer game on December 16th. Staying with friends. Nice info here guys, thanks.

:D

Little worried about Favre in your dome. He doesn't have all that great a history (*cough* 6 INT *cough*) there.

If you want a tourists opinion:

If your looking for bars with a 20's crowd go to the landing (i didnt like it, and most locals i talked to said not to go there)

If you want a 30;s crowd go to soulard, lotta bars there, and had a good time

Dont buy tickets before you go, there will be plenty of oportunity on game day to grab tickets for below face value and get good seats.

Definately check out the arch, i found it to be amazing, and we actually snuck our way onto the line going up without paying..

As for washington st. , we never made it there but a few locals we talked to said its a good adult crowd, a bit more upscale though..

Ya some chicks we had met at dinner told us we should go to Washington ave, but we never made it..

Ya i dont remember much of the bars after mollys but there was alot of them, pretty funny too because the pub crawl was going on, so when it was time for them to leave the bar would be empty, if you dont hit the bars in sequence with them, you could find yourself with about 5 people in the whole bar.

Yeah, I can't really think of many bars in St. Louis that are packed during the day unless a Cardinals game is on. Soulard is pretty busy on weekend nights. I lived about 3 blocks from Molly's right out of college.
